Default Base Model Vs. Everything else

From a performance aspect and knowing that the LSD is really the only significant (performance wise) difference between the models, would the average driver know the difference.

Reason I'm asking is that there are plenty of base models in my area available in my price range. Would I regret not getting a model with the LSD.

Also, with the exception of cruise, LSD, and no traction control what else would I be missing out on?

I drive an 05 base model. There is no way you would regret buying any Z, I love mine to death. That being said I have no idea performancewise exactly how much LSD helps you out because I don't have it.

I have run both an Open and LSD in my Z. It does make a difference, especially as the rear wheels start to loose grip. The LSD is night and day.

^ true that. I had to buy the HID kit from Jun and Im still lacking the lsd. It really depends on the type of driving to deide if you need a lsd or not. I hardly ever launch my car or track it so I opted for the base due to the lightness and price. If I ever need a lsd, it can be added later.

Buy a Base model and a Nismo LSD. It'll probably end up being cheaper and you'll have a better-than-stock Diff.

i too have an 05 base model and for some reason i can beat the models with the lsd anyways. so besides tacking turns at high speeds i enjoy not having the extra weight form the lsd.

dont forget the aluminum pedals that you can get for like 70 bucks off the web. i put everything but the lsd on my base which is next on my list, but driving long distances without a cruise control is a royal pain.

yeah I wish i had an enthusiast...I have a base...upgraded to the HID's, but sometimes when I'm doing some spirited back roads driving i wish i had the LSD...and on the long trips I have to take to South Carolina the no cruise control kind of sucks....you just have to figure out what you really need...I can live without those things...and always upgrade later.

i dont think we can upgrade to get a cruise control but if that is not important get the base everything else can be bought afterwards although it is cheaper just to buy an enthusist figure about 1000 for lsd 300 for hids 70 for aluminum pedals and you cant get cruise and i think the enthusist is really like only a 1000 more than a base give or take a few 100 for what options it has

Buy a base model then buy a Quiafe LSD. Then you can throw in a 3.9 final driver while your at it.

Get an enthusiast. I didn't pay much more for it, and I got my HIDs and LSD

I never regretted getting a base model after owning one since they came out. I do need an LSD now though that I'm FI, but so far I've compensated by just feathering it in 1/2 and sometimes 3rd. But I'm sure it'll get a lot worse once my tire's lose their tread as the rears still only have around a 1,000 miles on them lol
