Step away from geting a Z, need help.
When I got off work today. I went over to the Carmax by my job to get my 2001 Pontiac Sunfire appraised. I know I was young and needed a car to get to work and school. Anyways they came back and offered me 4k for it. I know I still have 6k left on the loan and they wanted to drag the negative equity over to the Z I was looking at. So I'am asking do you think that another dealer would pay off the difference in my loan if they know I was going to be buying a 24k and puting 3k down. If not what other options do I have? Thanks

Sell it separately, or at least don't let them put you in the negative. The least would be pay it off for you. Get the blue book price on your car and then check several shops for best deal. Don't rush. It took me 6 months before I bought mine and mutliple shops as far a SF down to Salinas (California) That's a 101 mile check from Nissan to Nissan before I made a decision.

I'm working late all this week but i'm also going to check out the Jones Nissan dealer by my house. I'm looking for a Black Z touring model and i'm looking to spend up to 26k with whatever I can get for my trade and 2k down.

Now my question is was Carmax trying to **** me over by taking my little bit of negative equity and throwing it on the Z when I would be buying a car from them for 26k. Also do you think I would get any money for my trade in that I could put down on the Z. Thanks for all the help so far.

Your smartest option? Pay-off your current vehicle.

The problem is you owe more on your car than its worth. CarMax didn't cause that, and CarMax can't fix it. That's your problem.
They're just offering you a way to get out of your car and into another. But of course, you will start out in the hole on the new purchase.
If you have $2K to put down, why don't just pay out the loan. $4K from CarMax + $2K from our funds = $6K.
