Just a warning to all pre-owned Z shoppers...
Hey guys, I just wanted to throw a heads-up to anyone who's still shopping for a Z, like I am. If you happen to be searching a wide radius for your car and you come across a 2005 Silverstone Touring with 12k located in Nissan of Garden City for $25k, do not consider planning a trip or driving down to see it. This car is not worth your time. It looks beautiful in pictures, with its polished OEM 5-spoker 18s, and 1 inch drop...but the car was abused and has a lot of damage. I'll post some pics of the car in a bit, I'm leeching a connection now since my DSL is dead. I'm going to cross-post a reply I made in another thread of mine in the Buying forum where I said:
The previous owner put scissor door hinges on it -- poor car. The doors would not open and close properly. There is tons and tons of leather and vinyl missing from the panels of the door from where they clearly rubbed everytime the door was opened. And there is a HUGE chunk missing from where the door meets the roofline, once again...clearly somebody didn't have the door aligned when closing it and it took off a 2 inch piece of car. Disgusting.
The car had an awful Borla exhaust on it - it was as loud as a Harley bike. And the front bumper had tons of scratches all over the bottom, which indicated the car was hit. After seeing the nauseating condition that the passenger side front rim was in (chewed up EVERYWHERE, not just lip area) the car was definitely involved in an accident of some sort. With the scratches on the bumper and the rim, it most likely jumped a curb going too fast. I still drove it, and it was quick. It was also dropped an inch.
But the car is shot to hell. The scissor door hinges were permanent, and the dealership said they wouldn't be able to get it back to stock. Also, the doors DO NOT open with the key fob. I kept pressing it, and I thought the fob was busted or something (but it wasn't). You have to open it with the key. Huge shame. Beautiful car, and whoever owned it destroyed before it even had a chance.
Only 12k miles on it too. What a shame. I was more upset for the car, rather than myself not being able to buy it. I can't believe somebody would treat a Z like that.
Just looking out.
