I thought 22k was completely fair.
If they don't sell it, and they call you drop your offer. Tell them that they waited so long that the value depreciated and your offer now is 20k. Tell them they can keep the change too.

I bailed on it overall.

Got an 08 BMW 335i instead.

yup, YOU = WIN! I gotta say, I am starting miss NOT having back seat... but again it's so much fun driving the Z, it makes up for not having it!
