Default Navi makes it harder bargin 2 on a new Z

Heres my thing im finishing my lease (altima 3.5) (WASNT SMART PAID WAY TOO MUCH) and im now thinking of actually financing my next car which maybe an 08 Z or the new one depends on what the new one looks like in person, but wat should i do to lower the price if the option i want (navi) most cars on the lot dont have or they only have it in auto ???

I would suggest: W/O Nav. Get a Garmin Nuvi 760, other other Garmin model. I got the Garmin CF550 and it works great, blue tooth and all. I was glad I did it that way and can move it from car to car. That is my suggestion.

yeah go without the Navi and get an aftermarket one. There is a nice Pioneer bundle which includes GPS, Bluetooth, and iPod adaptor.

yup....sounds like your stuck on wanting OEM navi.........

I have the OEM navi and its nice...but believe me i would have rather gone the aftermarket route and obtained much nicer features like bluetooth, touch screen and millions of built in features over the OEM like better POI searches, vicinity searches, etc.

I hear ya, for me the flush/clean well integrated look and feel of the stock Navi was my preference. So I just did a search online, looking for what I wanted, in the color I wanted. It's true that I found most navi are in autos, but I found 3 6spd manuals with navis/bluetooth, etc. in my area online. Then I emailed all three dealerships and let the bidding war between them begin. Ended up with the 08 Grand Touring which came with all the creature comfort options.

BTW, I suggest going through the Internet Sales dept, rather than the Retail Sales dept - the Internet salespeople told me they get a flat commission, regardless of selling price, whereas the Retail salespeople's commissions are based on a percentage of the final price out the door. Therefore, retail is less likely to give you a better deal since their commission is directly affected.

I think I got a pretty good deal - if I remember correctly it was about $800 below invoice, price was under $34k - which I think is pretty good for a fully loaded 2008 Grand Touring. I think it also helped that I bought it on Dec 29, so they were trying to make end of month/end of year unit numbers and were itching to make me a deal.

I highly suggest going with an base or enthusiast the money saved will get you 10 navs. I got a pioneer avic D3 you can purchase the trim specific for your car ($25) and be flush. Avic D3 is going for under 700 double din

I was a big fan of the navigation systems in cars but ever since the Nuvi's came out it kinda made a $2000 pretty screen in your car look a lot less appealing. I'd be really surprised if the manufacturers didn't lower the price or add more features to make the factory navigation systems compete better.
