Default Thinking on trading my R32 for 350z. Any advice?

Hello,

I currently have 2004 R32, VF stg2 supercharged(350hp), 43k miles, kw suspension, upgrade awd haldex controller. I bought this car on March for 23k from private seller.
Since I bought this car, I couldnt pass ga emission due to aftermarker software and had bouncing idle issue that no one really found out(tried 4 different shops/dealers), and still having issue.
So I figured I take off the s/c and all the aftermarker parts and sell it.(I probably going to get around 5k from the parts and s/c.)
And trade R32 to 07-08 350z(still deciding which trim I should get).

I'm pretty sure I can sell my R32 to private for around 22k. But if I trade-in, dealers probably give around 18k-19k.(I really wish they give 20k.) 04 R32 has really good resale value.

Do you guys think I'm making a good move? R32(awd) to 350z(rwd)

I cant decide which trim I want, I probably install most bolt-on parts and enjoy then maybe FI.

Base-Its great if I'm going to go FI, I can always add aftermarket LSD, but no TC
Enth-Great to have TC when its raining(I dont know if TC is really good option to have in 350z), cruise controls(I never use), stock LSD
Touring-Bose(dont care), leather(nice if its there), heated seat(I love this, but if I get cloth seat, no need), TC, LSD, VDC(I dont know if this thing is good)
GT-touring+brembo. Nice to have brembo.

First I was thinking used low mile 07 GT for around 25k-27k but then new 08 base or enth for around 27k-29k.
I was prefer leather seat instead of cloth, and good to have VDC,TC,LSD. But I researched on this forum and changed my mind that maybe I dont need leather seat and VDC, also I dont need to worry about LDS cause aftermarket one is better anyway. But I think I need TC for safety, If it really helps.

SO.. Which one should I need to look for in my needs?
Any advice would be really helpful to make up my mind.

Thanks guys.
Tae.

Why do you want to get rid of it? It's on a totally different level with the Z. As much as I hates GTRs, I think it's a downgrade for you to go for a Z. My opinion is that you should keep the R32 it is a better car and an awesome car...performance wise. If it just the emission problem, I sure that there's a shop that could deal with the ECU and retune it.

If you really wanna trade it for a Z, why not try to trade with some member on this forum? That way you don't need to pay for any payment like you would with a dealer. I'm sure many of us here on this forum would be interested in a trade.

i wouldn't trade your R32 for a Z.. 350z are a dime a dozen.. and R32's keep they're value.. since your care already has a s/c why not just keep it that way? theres plenty of smog places that would pass you if you know which ones to go to. i wouldn't mind driving around in a r32..

ps.. you know your name means "****" in tagalog? "tae" hahaha..

To clarify for the OP, "R32" is also a designation for one of the earlier
nissan skyline GTRs, hence the confusion and comments about downgrading.

If I'm not mistaken, the R32 (Nissan Skyline that everyone thought it was) was made between 1989 - 1994. Therefore it would have to be the VW R32. Because there were no Nissan Skylines made in 2004; only "Skyline" to be created in 2004 was the G35 which is referred to as the V35. to the OP if your thinking about going for the 350z, I would say go for it. Doesn't matter if it is the 2007 or 2008 model. If you want the leather and heat seaters, go for it. Just make sure what you get, it is what you want, not what others tell you to get.

i say get the Z. later on down the road if you don't like it, sell and get a different r32. they are rare, but not so rare that you couldn't find another one. no matter what you end up doing register the car and get a license in a state that doesn't care about emissions.

Rofl at first I thought everyone knew what they were talking about.
Then I realized everyone was talking about the r32 GTR rofl!!!

I was like wow so there is VW enthusiasts in here hahahahaha

So I guess I need some clarification to nismo nates comment. Are you talking about the VW or the GTR.
Because I probably see as many 350z as I see VW r32.
( Here in colorado anyway )

I'm tossing around the idea of getting rid of my 08 GTI.

They are tons of fun driving and the interior is very well placed, my only concern is that when I get out and look at it..i'm not blown away. Plus, I really really miss the rumble of a H/C V8
