Yo Dennis. I'm your age with the same first name. To directly answer your question, no, there has not been a history of catistrophic engine or drivetrain failures. There have been various issues with certain years; e.g. tire feathering on 03 & 04, oil consumption on 06, etc. But nothing of substance that cuts through all years.

Consumer Reports gives the Z good ratings on reliability. Also check out MSN auto for reviews: http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/de...san&model=350Z

My 03 is now 5 + years old with 53,000 miles. No problems at all. It is well cared for but I don't baby it. Had it well above 100 several times & go to redline frequently. Only surprise to me has been tires. Sets with alignment run about a grand & I get about 25,000 miles per set.

Thanks for your input. Did you ever think you'd be 66??

My mind is a kid's, but the body is a little less willing.

25K per set is good...rears on the Boxster are 10-12K and fronts 22-25K.

Tell me about it!! LOL!

Wife & I just returned from two week vacation along NorCali coast; great roads for the Z. We put about 1500 miles on it; many running near redline through the curves.
