Other than that, was a great car.

If you are looking for streetable and reliability I don't think you will go wrong with the Z. Unless you get pretty stupid you probably aren't going to break the drive train.

As for wait on the 370? If you plan on keeping the car I would say no to that. Buying a 350 you have a car that has been in production for 6 years, it pretty much has the bugs worked out, and has very few problems. The 370? We'll see but generally buying a car in the first year of its production run is a bad idea. How many problems did the 03z's have?

While I love my Z, I am not one of these rabid it's the greatest, it's only car in the world, anybody who drives something else is an idiot guys. Buy what fits your needs and what you like.

Personally I would never pay what Porsche wants for a Boxster with the problems the car has.

I beat the holy everliving **** out of my 2003 base edition Z, track, autox, street. Just killed the thing.....and she kept coming. If the worst issue was a window motor..... I figure I got a great deal.

I'm in the process of purchasing my second 350Z right now.

Default The only other car I am considering is the Vette

Given the engine issues in the Porsche and their refusal to make good, I am also considering the Vette along with the Z. The vette is more money then the 350 or 370Z but more power and ability in stock form. I am trying to look at what you get for your money and fun factor. The Vette guys will tell you that there are a lot of minor issues which require dealer attention who most avoid like the plague. However, there are seldom issues with the power train and most last well after the minor issues are taken care of. I would venture to say that the 350Z may have fewer issues then the Vette off the lot but not sure. Both are good cars but the Z seems a better bang for the buck. The question is: Is the vette worth twenty more when considering both in Roadster form? I guess we have to ask ourselves that question. Any members with both a C6 and a Z?

I owned a 350Z, but not a C6. I did buy a c5Z though almost 2 years ago.

I haven't had any issues yet and the performance/handling is insane. The prices for them is very reasonable now.

That's almost an understatement.

The C5's are pretty cheap these days. Brand new C6's are going for ridiculous prices too. Can't say enough about the C6 Z06 but the C6 vert is more than fast enough.

Default well I am 66 and have been retired for 13 years...(AF and FDIC)

...don't plan on croaking soon, but lots of guys younger than me have!

I keep very busy AXing, tracking, going to races at Daytona, Road Atlanta, Leguna Seca and NJ motorports Park. I drive the Boxster to all these venues and will do so with the 350Z

Remember, where you are, I was...and you'll be where I am sooner than you think.

I've been playing with cars since the 50s and could probably show some of you the gate at an Autocross.

Been driving legally for 50 years and will keep playing 'till I can't.

The boxsters quality is 10 times what the Z is, sorry but your comparing plastic interior to leather interiors. Theirs alot more to a car then just how fast it goes, dont try and compare porsche quality to a Z. I have had both a Z and a carrera s, and in NO way does the Z compare, sorry guys.
Not in all cases. A NISMO Z would hand and has handed the the Porsche it's *** in road courses. Porches are rear heavy, which makes them a bit loose. The Z is very well balanced and is definitely more stable than a Porsche is. At least my NISMO is.

+1

Some of us on this site are pretty immature, but there is also a lot of great knowledge to gained from this site. Just have to have a really really good ******** filter.

I use my car for DD duties and occassional trips out of the city to find good roads. Usually push it to about 8/10ths but not much harder on public roads. I do not autoX or track the car as i dont really have the spare income for tires, break pads etc..

In any case, the car makes an excellent daily driver save for a couple of issues. One is visibility: the blind spots on this car are pretty bad. Those tiny little windows in the back are...well tiny. The rear fenders are flared quite a bit as well so i'm always paranoid when backing up. It's something you can live with if you dont mind being cautious. The second issue i have as a daily driver is space. The trunk is plenty big, it's just extremely unwieldy due to the huge brace that effectively bisects your storage space.

However the car is EXTREMELY easy to drive. Anyone who knows how to drive a manual will have no problems. I live in Seattle and work downtown. The hills here are extremely steep but i'm never worried about stalling due a pretty progressive clutch and plenty of torque.

Good luck with your purchase! I wouldn't do anything differently if i had to do it all over again.

I kid, welcome to my350z, as my input is useless.
But you should definitely get a used, if not new, Z.

no lie. street racing and putting ebay mods on the car, then taking it off and saying it was never modded is a chance i would not take..
I just wanted to point out there is nothing wrong with a Zenclosure. Top quality, Looks good in, and comes out quick when I need the space for hockey gear. Other then that however, I would never touch a car from some of the members here.

NISMO isn't that much better frankly.... its still a heavy car. Stock wise I feel the Boxster, S2K, Vette, all handle a bit better. Not that the Z and especially the NISMO doesn't handle well, just, not as well... that heavy engine up front does affect your turn-in speed greatly. Part of the reason 275 tires up front and 305 tires in the rear on a stock Z really isn't unnecessary when on a track.

Anyhow I too track my Z on occasion, do autocross, but mostly its used as a DD to and from work and all other crap, and quite a few very spirited runs up mountain roads. I take the car right to the limit, and over on the track/autox on occasion. Anyhow it's been extremely reliable so far, its a fun car to drive, a nice place to be, and not too noisy during the daily commute. I do have the convertible though and it is an automatic. I still really would prefer a manual but I must confess the auto is still just as fast as the manual and its kind of nice on my long commute to/from work.

So I still think a Z is an excellent choice, but you may also want to consider a S2K.... A Vette would certainly fit the stereotype here but some have reliability issues and I hear the dealers are not fun to deal with. But.... the Vette is very comfortable, very easy to drive, can get good gas milage, and all that torque means you can be really lazy which I like.

But getting out of the Boxster is a good idea, you don't want to be a Coxster anymore do you?

Default Me too

I have had them all......Porsche, NSX (years ago), even a Ferrari. Anyway, a couple of months ago, lease on the Z4 M roadster was up and, sick of high car payments, drove the 08' 350 enthusiast model. Bought it on the spot.....for 28K, got 306 hp, solid ride, good to very good handling, great sounding Nismo exhaust, a couple of K and N drop ins......I am 56 and live in So.Cal. My only wish is for another 30-50 hp, but, as the 350 was problematic when first introduced, will wait until 2010 or later to revisit the 370. BTW, also drove the WRX Sti and EVO X, Subie's looks bore me and the X is sooooo cheap inside, the supposed Recaros fall apart if you look at them wrong!
