There are only three things I wished my base Z had when I bought it:
1. LSD
2. HIDs
3. Rays Wheels (not Brembo brakes because they cost a lot more $$ to replace)

I fixed 1 & 2 by getting a Nismo LSD and PIAA Extreme White Plus halogen bulbs from TireRack. Now it's just a matter of finding a set of track wheels.

I dont think you will regret getting a base (I have a base and I have NO regrets) but think about it this way. my HID's cost me a buck thirty...LSD I want is about 1200-1500..and my Rays (track rims with tires) cost me 500 w/tires.. now check online to see how much those (Xtra) options are to add on the car. Then it will be up to you to see if "its worth it"

I got an Enthusiast instead of a Base for one reason only... cruise control. I do alot of highway driving. The Base has no cruise and it cannot be added later.

My Buddy got a base, and I gotta Base model also, no shame. Eunth, model was 3500 more at the dealer, would of cost me 1500 extra at the end of my Loan term. I bought base model MR-2 Turbo, modded it like crazy, and no shame.

No disrspect, but your not buying a base model HOnda Civic DX (Like I said no disrspect) Your buying a 350z, if its a base or a Track, or Nismo, its still gonna look Nice =)

think of owning a base as this base is the lightest weight of all models +
no obtrusive electronic aids ( could be a + or - depending on driving level ) i consider it a +
if your going to highly modify the vehicle your going to replace everything a higher model has anyway (brakes, lsd, steering wheel ) so in all i belive i saved the 3500+ i didnt have to make payments and started modding right off the bat! =)

If you like driving hard, you will want an LSD at some point or another. (get the stock LSD)

If like driving hard so much that you want to track your car, get the base and an aftermarket LSD.

I bought a base, and the open diff sucked on the track. But the Quaife I put in eats the stock LSD's lunch.

The "tire fire" 16 seconds into this vid is with the open diff. (and bad throttle input.)

Life is much better now.

I was gonna do that, but you still have no cruise control. Just something for the OP to consider if he does any highway driving.

daily driver = enthusiast and above.

You will miss cruise, tcs, and LSD if you go base. The price difference is not that much. and the weight differnce is the same as the difference between a skinny and fat chick. so meh...

I would have been a ditch a few times without tcs.

Love my SB base 05, don't need limited-slip, VDC or other B.S. for the computer to limit my driving knowledge. only thing i'm missing from enthusiast is aluminum pedals and cruise control, (wow how did I ever drive a DD without cruise control?) my pops has the 03 touring, can't say I enjoy playing slip and slide in leather especially while taking on twisties in the canyons and Bose system (Please I've heard better stock setups in daewoo's.

Open diff= more "driving knowlege"?

I think you are confusing an LSD with TCS or some other electronic nanny.

Limited-slip differentials are all about driving.

Unless you are a baller and would be modding your Z all out...get the Enthusiast. For a little over 1,000, you get a good amount of extras. For me, I would not get the Base because I know that I will not be modding the car too much, so I want the stock LSD and the additional creature comforts.

Okay, and you are the only one who likes the rev-match on the new 370! you might as well buy an automatic if you're that lazy! If they install the backup feature like the new lexus models where the car parks for you, I bet you would love that too!!

Automatic transmission, TCS and VDC all make the Z slower.

LSD and the Rev Match feature make the Z faster.

But then, I must not have the level of "driving knowlege" that you do.

Why, exactly, do you prefer to have power delivered to the inside tire in a turn?

Yes. I regret buying a touring instead of a grand touring.

buy the base if you looking to really put money into your z. cus if u get the higher models you end up replacing something like exhaust or rims seats...whatevers not base... then ur still paying for it in your car note. if not buy other models
