Hi all,
I've been checking out the forum and there is a lot of knowledgeable people here. I'm hoping to get some idea aboutprices because I have seen some amazing prices on this site.
Right now I'm looking at an 06 6MT 350z enthusiast with about 14k miles on it. It has some mods (cai and cat-back exhaust) but I don't really care for them right now. Is 20500 a good deal for this car? It isn't the original owner and I don't know any simple way to find out if it has the oil consumption problem (any hints?). btw, it is also out of the bumper to bumper warranty.

Regarding the oil consumption problem, if it exists, would it be fixed even with the car out of warranty?

I'm not sure about the price because I just read a post about a 2006.5 base, 21 miles, for 23000. sweet deal.

For current prices check the blue book. The motor warranty is 60 months 60,000 miles.

Already checked blue book. Excellent condition is going for about 20795. Good condition is 19645. I'm not sure if blue book is reflecting the market value because it seems like everyone is trying to sell it much higher (22-30k). That's why I'm not too sure about the comparison.

only way to tell if there was oil consumption was if the dealer will be hoenst with you and give you the info you need. itll be under warranty if you find you have the issue, but I wouldn't want to deal with it personally. you can also talk em down a little I bet - mods don't add value.

Actually, that is already the talked down value. Doesn't seem like he's willing to go down anymore. That's kind of why I'm not sure about the price, especially compared with kbb. Though it does have pretty low miles, its still an 06.

whats your ZIP code? Best bargaining tool is reminding them you have other options and having another dealer not too far out that has something for a better price. I'll help find something to use as a bargaining tool if nothing else.

I'm actually close to you, so anything in washington state will do. I've tried looking through CL and other sites, but the prices seem artificially high compared with kbb. I think because of all the rain and long drives around here, I would prefer a non-base trim. btw, thanks for the help!

show them that. tell them you like the color more (if its different) and tell them they are willing to drop the price a bit too. they might budge afterwards.

if they dont budge they probably paid too much to take that car in and are just trying to make their profit. sometimes dealers are thick headed and will hang on to a car for a long time because they paid too much for it.

Thanks for the help. It seems that automatics are going for much cheaper in this area and there is a slight mileage difference. Its actually a private seller that I am dealing with but do you think the price difference should be that big? I have found a base trim , 6mt, 28k miles for about 17300. Comparing that, it's originally about 2k difference for the trim upgrade (so I assume through depreciation, it should be around 1-1.5k difference) and then about half the mileage. So it seems reasonable in that sense. I just feel like its a high price seeing that gas is generally high (not now), the markets are crazy right now, mods I don't necessarily want, out of warranty etc.
Any idea how much a 6mt would be?

Blue book numbers are late indicators. You may be able to get the Z for book less $1,000. Make an offer. See if they accept.

I actually did make an offer which caused the seller to lower the price down to where it is now, 20500 (which is pretty high compared with kbb). You are suggesting 1000 less than kbb, but at this point, 20500 seems to be the price the seller is going with. I'd like to know how good this price actually is. Is it a good deal or are there better deals out there, especially at this time. It seems like the price is high since no one has said "great deal" and you were suggesting offering below kbb. Is this a correct indication? have you seen lower prices?
