yes.

but first, check all the hoses and the compression. also, if its going to be a track car, why is the condition of the interior pertinent? especially for a "free" car. i say, have the engine a go over by someone who knows turbos and then take it if its ok. if not, it may be a money pit.

94,000 miles on the original motor? Be prepared to spend some bucks on a “free” car.

The motor could be a JDM motor. But I heard some horror stories about those motors. A Twin Turbo 300ZX is fast but it cost a lot of money to get it fast. And they require a lot of maintance that is costly and to keep them running good hope you have deep pockets?

BTW, as a current 300zx owner I'd say sell it unless you are very mechanically inclined.

I say take it; I love that car. Ask him if he completely rebuilt it when he took it apart (pistons, rings, etc.), and as others have said do a compression test. If it checks out then take it. ( I would take it either way if its free just because I love that car even though they are a bietch to work on. )

yes yes yes. I want another 300zx to make into a track car. The only problem with that car is that the wheel base is too short if you are producing a lot of power out of the engine, making the car understeer like crazy. Also it is a fairly heavy car, so you need to think about this as well.

I've been dreaming of doing an rb swap or a sr20 swap (saves 200 lbs over the VG30) and building a track car.

p.s. This car is the hardest vehicle to work on ever (not including the exotics that have "engine-out" services for every single service).

3000gt, is a heavy pig, and is made by a different company. I never had any problems with my 94 tt, and it was producing 450 to the wheels.
