I hate it when people here tell others how to live their life. Seriously, shut the f*ck up and worry about yourselves.

As far as the OP: I actually don't think you'll lose that much on the Volvo. You've only had the car for 6 months, so it hasn't depreciated much, and with work 5 minutes away, I doubt it's got much mileage on it. Plus, Volvos don't depreciate as bad as Nissans, so there's a potential that you can do a straight trade for an 07 Z. And yes, you're better off with an 07+, the 06 has the standard VQ35DE.

You should not finance a Z unless you're getting a very low APR such as below 1%. But that doesn't rule out the fact that you SHOULD have cash in hand when you purchase.
Wow, you should not finance a z? A Z is just like every other vehicle out there, what makes it not a necessity? What if it's your main daily driver everyday to work? Everybody has 15-30grand in cash to pay for a car? Alright big baller, what do you do for work? Cause I want in.

To the op, if you can afford it in the long run. I'd say go for it as long as it does not put you overwhelmingly upside down.

QFT.

while your advice may be solid or OK in most situations, who cares, this guy is going to get by fine.

Just pointing something practical out...that you **may** not want to hear. I live in Colorado for part of the year and I can tell you that if I was reliant solely on the Z to get around I would be stuck as hell this time of year. If you have use of your parents SUV's or cars or whatever to the extent that they won't mind whenever you borrow...you are in the clear...buy the Z and don't look back. But honestly i've had my Z out 3 times in the last two weeks because of all the snow and ice. Let me put it simply:

THE Z IS TERRIBLE IN THE SNOW. RWD....Plenty of HP and Torque...really fun when you have traction but a nightmare (and generally quite costly) when you don't.

If you don't plan to move out (ostensibly to a milder climate) for 5 or 6 years, have you thought about waiting on the Z until it can be a daily driver? Or...maybe an AWD alternative like an evo or sti?

Just my 2 cents. I know I couldn't get away with driving only a Z here.

Anyway good luck. Hope you figure out a way to make it work.
