Default Trade for Z: how smooth is it???

Hey guys, so i have a 2008 Honda S2000 CR. I found a dealership willing to do a 1:1 trade for a brand new RED 350z Enth edition. Car has the side air bags installed and a number of other dealer crap. So anways its been about a year or since ive driven a Z, and was just wondering about the comfortability of driving them? The problem with the CR is that its just SO BUMPY and my GF cant stand it!! She hates driving in the car because its too bumpy and uncomfortable. So was just wondering of how smooth of a ride the Z is?

Default smooth.....

Everytime I go over a pothole or bump I have to check for loose fillings. You should go test drive one..... if you are looking for fall asleep in your sleep smooth.....you would be better off with a G37 or a TL.

heh agreed. you're picking low profile sportscars, they are all going to ride a bit rough. drive it.

ultimately its your car, tell your gf to suck it up.

Yeah but i cant imagine this car being like the CR, the car is beyond harsh driving for every day. I used to have a Volvo. If anyone has driven that how would it compare? Im out of town on business for 2 weeks and cant drive anything

Default each model is different

One day, when I was thinking about buying the Z, I took my wife over to the biggest dealer in town for a test drive. She had not been in a Z car in several years as the last one I had was an 84 Turbo that I drove back when we were dating (yes, I’m old).

The sales man was nice enough to allow us to take a base model out with a full tank of gas and spend over an hour driving it around. At that point I had not even committed to the sale yet. However, I had been speaking to the salesman through a mutual friend via e-mail.

The first thing she noticed was how much rougher the ride was (as she remember comparing it to the old Z). I noticed it to but really enjoyed the car and expected it to be a little rough. Although, at that time I had driven an F55 (adjustable suspension) C6 and a base C6 and actually thought the F55 rode a little bit better. The Z reminded me of the base C6 (in ride only).

I had not even driven a Touring model at that time and the dealer did not have one for me to drive. I liked the car good enough to go ahead and purchase and decided to get the Touring model because a lot of the amenities that it had over the base/enth. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised when I drove it for the first time and how much better, at least to me, it rode. The first time my wife rode in it she noticed it right off the bat and was also surprised at the ride difference between the base Z and the Touring model(s).

I’m guessing, through what I’ve read on the boards, that it will ride even better when the OEM tires need to be replaced and I can put some Michelin PS2’s on it. Hope this helps…

Comfortability=fail. Comfortableness or, simply comfort[s] are the correct terms.

I find the stock ride quite comfortable, my wifes car on the other hand is extremely harsh in comparison (mini cooper) but handles great.

You bought a Honda instead of a 350Z. Why are you hanging around here asking dumb questions?

all have the same suspension, except for the Nismo version. Which would be firmer yet.

Maybe an A6? or an M5? Those are nice :P GL

Well for an update. When i get back on friday and went and drove a base Z by my house. What a difference!! The inside is about double the s2k, and 10 times smoother then my CR. I found a local dealer with an 08 red (fav color) enth edition brand new and are going to do my car + 400 for theirs. I will let you know what happens on saturday. Out of town again this week
