Default 350z Shopping. I need help.

Hi everyone. I am a noobie on this forum so please don't hate me, but I have some questions. I am 20 years old and this will be my first car purchase and I just need some professional help.

I'm shopping for a used 350z (05' and up) and I want to spend around $16,000 -$17,000 (max) OTD price.

I found 1 at a dealer (not a nissan dealer)that i've had my eye on and they have a 2005 350z (suppose to be a 35th anniversary edition. First question, how do I know if it is a 35th anni.?) Black/Black, auto., 31,864miles, and its listed price is $17,990.

So heres alil story that i will try to make short. BAck in early December 08 I contacted this dealer and said I was interested, but the price was too high ( was listed at $19,990 back in Dec.). They asked how much I was willing to pay and I said $15,000(i low balled of course). They said no its too low blah blah so i said fine bye and havent contacted them since. I've looked for other Z's but this is the only one that comes close to what I want.

SOO finally my questions are is $17,990 a good price or is it too high? Should I contact them back and say my offer is still on the table, since its been 2 months now and they havent sold it?

Thanks in advance.

the 35th anni if it's auto should have a down-rev match program with it. That's on the auto. It should also have some badging. With the release of the 370Z they should be working on the price. Also I don't know what kind of dealership it is, but I'd be wary of the vehicle, wanting to see a car-fax and have a mechanic check the vehicle too.

your better off buying a new one for 22-23k if u like the base, getting the 1.9% financing, instead of shelling out the 17k put that money in a cd at 2.25%+, make the payments at 1.9% and your going to get a newer car with less money and better return at the end

Meh, give me 17k and finance 13k on my 641 whp 350z and voila, you will have the nastiest ride within 500 miles of where you are!!!

Thanks for the responses. Well iuno if u guys going to think this is stupid BUT im willing to pay 16-17k but ima be financing around 15k from a bank with lower interest hopefully. I want to finance it because I really really want a Z and my parents want their car that i'm using back (yes i live with my parents...). Ultimately I want to be paying no more than $300/month. I've already heard from many ppl that I should just save then buy a car, but im the type that cant wait. So my plan is to pay enough downpayment so I only have to pay 300/month. And of course im going to be shelling out anohter 300-400/month for insurance.

Outside bank rates are high, if you want the attractive apr u will have to buy a 08 from nissan dealers, if you buy used your going to be paying a higher interest rate, but you probably already knew that

Also, new credit first time buyers usually will have a hard time convincing NMAC to get you at that low rate. I hope your parents are willing to help you out to get you that low interest rate. Also, with a new car you get the factory warranty. Oh, and you can negotiate on pricing for extended warranties, people don't realize this but you can. So good luck to you, and don't rush it, because it's a buyers market.

ask them for their initial offer on the extended warranty, then talk them down to about 2/3 of the original asking price. that's about as low as I've seen them let it go.

on a used car I've gotten them to dump it to half cost.

I think you should concentrate on finishing college with as little debt as possible and then being able to move out of your parents' house and live on your own. At that point, you can begin SAVING for your Z, if that's what you still desire. You have a golden opportunity now to save money. It might be foolhardy in the long run to waste it.

you hit the insurance rate right on the money saying 300-400 a month. I'm 20 and I have to yield out $330 to state farm every month....

I don't buy warranties. There are too many exceptions in the small print. Difficult to get anything paid for with a warranty.

Wow so it cost you 600/month with insurance to drive it??? ho-e-****

Dude your flushing money down the toilet. buy a gti or civic si at the moment. finish college. 600/month is not worth it.
