Default Is no one buying 350Z's anymore?

My car has been for sale for over a month now. It's an enthusiast 6 speed, with upgraded stereo, nothing flashy. I started my price out at $28,000 and got no calls for 2 weeks. I have since lowered the price to $26,500 and received a couple of calls, but no one serious. It has 4700 miles on it, and I am selling it for $5,000 less than I paid for it 5 months ago. I just can't believe that it hasn't sold yet. Are people not buying them now because of the season or what? I have the car listed on all the major Internet sites, like cars.com... autotrader.com.. etc. It has been in my local paper and local car magazines for a month also. Still nothing. Any suggestions? I REALLY have to sell this car.

I plan on buying a new Ethusiest for around 27.5k. Your car is way overpriced. MSRP is around 29k.

I certainly would pay an addition 1k or so for a new car vs one with 5k miles.

I have shopped around at all the local lots, and they all want more than 31K for the same car I have brand new. So, I don't consider my car to be overpriced at all in my market.

As for why I am selling it... I just don't have the time to enjoy the car. I drove it all of 3 times in July. I simply work way too much. I just bought a condo, and that is eating up most of my money. Plus, my insurance is $350 a month, just for basic coverage due to an at fault accident. Just seems silly to be spending over $600 a month on a car that I never drive. I'll buy another Z someday... but right now it's just not practical for me.

For a new car:

29k for a new one, at MSRP. No one is paying MSRP.

Monkey Man, nobody cares how much you lowered the price from what u paid. If ppl can get a 2004 new enthu for 27k, why would they want your car? All dealers post MSRP numbers but they always have room for negotiation.

Thanks for the input. So what would be a fair price to ask?

My autotrader ad:

"Priced to sell fast. Silverstone, 6 speed, Enthusiast model. 4700 mi., 95% highway. Kenwood CD Player($200), Alpine Type R component front speakers ($300), MB Quart rear speakers ($300), 300 watt JL Audio Amp ($400) , hardwired radar detector ($400), garage kept, synthetic oil, performance tires, paid over 31K 5 months ago. Includes remainder of 36,000 mile / 3 year bumper to bumper warranty. Will also include a remote start/ paging car alarm that has not yet been installed ($500). Many references available upon request. Asking $27,500 502-457-6716 or e-mail: streetsports@email.com"

You are completely right, I was just going by prices in my town. I guess I should consider other markets more. Thanks.

Keep the car. Sounds like you have a great z on your hands. Sell your daily driver and use the z.

Another thing you may want to keep in mind is that when people are spending this much money on a car, they would really rather have a new one. For myslef, I would rather pay a little more to get a brand new car and to get a 2004 model.

This probably isn't what you want to hear, but you're gonna have to price the car pretty aggressively to get a buyer.

And another thing, you may want to remove the audio system you installed in there. Most people will not pay a premium for an aftermarket audio system. Maybe just remove the system and sell that separate from the car, you could make a little more money that way.

I shopped around and then when I got the lowest prices from two dealers, I turned them on each other. They competed untill one just gave up and stopped calling. Then the dealer that was left came down a little more just to seal the deal. I am happy =D came out to 29,200 after TTL

I also encourage you to keep the car. Get a better quote from insurance companies (I'm using 21th century and my premium is $730/ 6months for both my new Z and Civic). I was told my premium will be ~$530/6 Months if I sold my Civic.

Well, my daily driver is a fully paid for company car. And there is no way I would ever park my Z downtown where I work. I already sold the wheels. They were 19" Volk GT-C's that I got from www.350tuner.com.

Nekogami: check the for sale forum, I posted a bunch of pictures there.

On a positive note, I have gotten 2 emails and a phone call about the car today. Everyone around town has told me that I should have no problems selling it for $26,500. Mainly because the dealerships around here are still marking the new ones up. The nissan dealership offered me 23K for it, and said its not worth their time unless they are making at least 5K on a sale.

I recommend you to sell the audio system seperately. Put everything back to stock, and then sell it. You will come out better. I know it's a lot of trouble, but most people would like their car "clean".

My suggestion is to sell the wheels, tires, and stereo on this webpage or e-bay because you wont really get anymore for them in your car when you sell it. Selling a car new is a bad choice to make as far as resale. You are going to eat it, no two ways about it.

Good luck...Jeff

Well, I ordered a brand new 04' for $27100.

My guess is people are afraid of getting used 03's that are selling because of the common 03' problems, so they rather pay a little more to have a piece of mind.
