Default Difficulty with an 08

Hey guys I know another thread about buying an 08 z b Regardless here is my situation. I want an 08 black base and I live in Florida. The only 08 black base I can find is in Orlando. That in itself is not a terrible thing because its only about 2 hrs away from where I am now, BUT my question is should I go down there and talk to them or should I just try to deal over the phone?? I went to the Nissan dealership here today and the guy I talked to was not at all receptive to my offer of 21.5k for a new 08. That is a completely reasonable price is it not plus tax, tag, and title of course. Anyway just looking for other options on where to get one of these so let me know if you have any suggestions!

Face-to-face of course. In business they say “A telephone never handed anyone money.”

May be reasonable to you but obviously not the seller.

I bought my last new car over the phone. I never even saw it until it was shipped to my state. Dealers are becoming more receptive to the new age of car shopping. I wouldn't waste my time driving down there before you've sealed the deal and signed the papers. Otherwise, they can jerk you around since you already drove 2 hours and you have a lot more incentive to buy the car. Make sure you have the papers all signed and the only thing you're driving down there to do is pick up the car.

I use autotrader.com and other sites and search for specific cars within a radius I am comfortable traveling to.

if its more then 90 mins away, I call the dealer first, I feel them out, I get in contact with whoever I will be in contact with when I arrive, I tell them the ballpark I am thinking and if it's doable. if they sound like they are flexible then it's worth the drive.

your offer is reasonable, for a BASE model. any higher trim would be way in your favor.

The base model is what I want so hopefully I can just find one... If it was only 90 miles to a dealership that had one id be thrilled I have searched through all of florida and there is nothing and I have moved on to Georgia and beyond and still nothing but I will keep searching.......

maybe bump it up to enthusiast trim? what do you have against a great stock LSD and cruise control? it doesn't weigh that much more, LSD>weight savings imo

Why not go by some of your local Nissan dealers and ask them if they can get one. I could not find a 08 black enthusiast in South FL anywhere, so I went to a local dealer and they drove mine down from 60 miles away that wasn't even listed.

Soo I went and saw the dealer today and they found me an 08 at port in jacksonville. I offered 21.5 again and they came back with 26.xxxxx and I said NO how about 22k. The lowest amount they would go with is 23800 or 26500 OTD. This is more than I wanted to spend and I also think that I can do better but this is the only dealer in the area. So when they call me I am going to tell them I cant afford it and see what happens The good news is they let me drive the 370z, which was very nice but the interior really didnt impress me that much so I am on the fence about weather I like it or not.

Ok so after 2 more days of fun at the dealer they wont budge on price and I am stuck looking again. If anyone knows of a local dealer in your area I am ready to fly and buy but they need to be willing to deal at 21.5k. Please tell me if you know of a dealer that is willing to let one go at this price!!!!

Its April 2009 and you are looking for a leftover 2008 for $21,500. The probability of this happening is slim.

Any updates? I'm in the same boat.

I found a VERY nice white base z 6spd. I want it for 22k OTD WITH the 1.9%. Lady came back told me the best they could do was 26k OTD or 24.5 with the higher interest rate. Gave her my number and told her to call me when they could do what I wanted.

She called me back yesterday told me they had an 08 "5 speed" that they could do the same deal I wanted on but it has 18k miles - used, base. - I was just thinking "seriously? wtf?"

but anyways that's my rant/story. GL hope you find yours, I found mine they're just being ****** about it they could have had a sale right there and then....

EDIT: This seems to have turned into a waiting game, I really need a car, but I know if I go back to the dealership they're going to assume im anxious for the car - which I am - though I don't want them to use that against my numbers

I just really hope no one goes and buys it, if not i'm sure they'll call me - hopefully haha.

You should be able to, i got my brand new 08 Z acouple months ago. I did all my talking through email, not even the phone. I was out of town when i found the one i wanted and out of cell minutes so everything was through email. I even got my trade in (08 CR) value through email as well and came out with an OTD price. Ended up being $24k OTD (no tax since my trade in was equal to their selling price) for an enth edition.
They did however try and low ball me when i got there and say my CR wasnt in the condition describes and they found some scratches, etc.. that i hadvnt even noticed. I said original deal or nothing and they took it lol.
