03 track might have transmission problems if it hasn't been replaced, check to see if he upgraded the transmission. 06 might have engine problems, check to see if he replaced the engine, or if there is a history of oil consumption. Both are out of warranty now so it's sketchy.

I own an 03' track with the newest transmission (got mine 15 days before warranty expired ).

03 track > 06 base... it's lighter which makes up for the power difference the 06 has over it. My '03 pulled on an '06 from a roll.

I'd keep looking. You could get a '07 base for roughly ~17-18K

i can only afford 15k max, 14k preferred, so this would be ideal.

Gotcha. I'd take the track out of your choices and update the LEDs if that's a concern. I've had both rev-up and non-revup Zs and do prefer the revup though.

I think it'd be best to wait a bit more and save up. For roughly 2K more, an '07 offers a whole lot more. This car is already sold, but is a good example https://my350z.com/forum/cars-for-sa...-6spd-ppw.html

PROS for 06
-updated headlights, taillights, front bumper, interior, active power steering, redesigned intake box, bigger front rotors (on the base), and no tranny problems like the 03's had.

+ it's not a 6 year old care!
there's nothing fishy about the 03's miles. I bought my 03 with 39k about a year ago. Their are always going to be people that only drive their cars a few thousand miles a year.

As for it being 6 year old care, it depends on who the previous owners were. You could have an older owner that has his 03 in immaculate condition and and 06 owned by a younger owner who has driven it to the ground. Just because it is a 6 yr old vehicle doesn't mean anything.

Go with the 03, all the exterior mods you can easily pick up to make it look as nice as the 06 on the outside plus you got BREMBOS!!!

It's a different type of speed sensitive steering. I don't recall the details but so I'm not going to get into any, but it was revamped.

About your decision. For my it would be the track model, hands down... I bought this car for the following reasons other then the fact that it was a 350Z

1. VLSD (viscous limited slip differential) that causes both tires to lock up under load... in short both wheels will spin under load versus the base model that does one wheel peels. Personally I didn't even consider the base model once I noticed it didn't have a limited slip diff.

2. Plastic carbon composite reinforced driveshaft = lighter and stiffer drivetrain = more power to the road and faster.

3. Brembo! If I didn't get the track model I was including a BBK in the purchase of the car... I have a fetish for nice brakes.

4. Lightweight wheels = more power to the road and better braking. Plus they look damn good compared to most OEM Z wheels.

Mine does have the crappy transmission and it will grind 3rd and 5th at the right engine/wheel speed. It's annoying but isn't too bad when the car is hot. When the car is cold you just make sure you shift slowly... otherwise I shift like Alberto for those of you that have seen his videos . I track my car and do autoX most weekends so the track was an easy sell to me. My track model had 40,000 MILES when a bought it in February, it's a US model as they were hard to find up here for '03 and '04.

5.

yeah after further research i'm probably going track or bust since this car will at least be seeing some autoxing, if not track time as well. getting an 03 kinda scares me now though

That would be tough for me. Brembos or updated headlights/tail lights.

id just get a corvette.. a c5 model.. and everyone on here saying 06 has rev up problems doesnt take into consideration only the ppl having problems get on here and talk about it...hell i have 40k on mine and i dont have a single issue of oil consumption.. but i dont get on here and make threads saying i dont..id only talk about it if it was a problem..anyway, to each his own, i hate leather ...and most of the time i dont see any point in paying for something that im gonna replace with aftermarket parts...IE brakes, LSD, etc... id drive them both and make ur own decision.. its not these ppl that have to drive or pay for the car daily, its YOU.. id buy the car thats in better shape..maint. wise... would u rather have a car thats newer but hasnt been taken care of, or a older car thats been babied? just think everything out for sure...

My buddy has an 08 Enthusiast which has the same aesthetics (minus the raised hood) as an 06. Honestly, While the interior is a little nicer, and the upgraded lights are very nice as well (especially those damn headlights bah) I seriously don't think I could pass up a track with less miles. I mean come on...if the track has 50k miles most of the glass trannies that came in 03's and some 04's would have either appeared or been replaced by then.

The track YOU are looking at you say had the leather and navi option which is ****ing SWEET. I WISH I could have bought that car 3 months ago. Don't let that deal go before someone else does.
