Hi everybody,

I must be a fool. I bought my security+plus (gold preferred) 60/60000 for $1183.
Can I return the warranty since I have bought my z for 39 days? Should I talk to NISSAN consumer affair about that?
If I can return the warranty what should I do ?
Please advise!

Yan

My dealer offered me the 7/100 for 1200, and told me that i can not purchade the same warranty once the car is brought off the lot, as its a used car - So if youre looking to wait untill youre warranty is about to run out, that might not be a great idea. Check with youre local dealer of course . . but it makes sense to me.

Also be carefull with the deductibles, as youre 50 dollar deductible is most likely per "Part " meaning if you blow out youre blinker, they will charge you a deductible for the blinker fluid pump, the blinker fluid cooler, the blinker itself . . depending on how many parts are connected in line with the repair, it could get costly.

Yes, you can get an extended warranty after you drive your car off the lot and at the end of your factory warranty, if you need it.

What you won't be able to get, or more likely what your dealership won't be able to get, is the outrageous price that your dealer charges for something you can't use until your factory warranty runs out. Chances are that you won't need it unless you are keeping the car for a long time and you have nagging manufacturing or workmanship problems. It you are having that many problems you aren't going to keep the car. The extended warranty is easy to void, also.

Do a Google search or check your latest junk email, there is no shortage of companies that want to offer you extended auto warranties.

Deductibles are per visit, not per part.

Default Extended Warranty Is Not Road Hazard Insurance

It seems that many people think that an Extended Warranty will cover damages from road hazards or accidents. In almost all policies, you will find that road hazards and accidents are not covered in the warranty. In fact, you will find that a previous accident or road hazard will void that part of the car from the warranty. Extended Warranties cover manufacturing and workmanship defects. If you want Road Hazard Insurance, have your insurance company add a rider to your regular insurance policy. It is much cheaper. Beware if you lease your car. On a typical 3yr/45k lease you will never get a chance to use an Extended Warranty because your factory warranty will be in affect during the whole period.

There are basically only two types of people that need an Extended Warranty.

1) Someone who bought a fairly new car and the factory warranty wasn't transferable.

2) Owners of older cars with questionable reliablity. Check Consumer Reports for the best reliabity ratings.
