Arrow Looking to trade for '04 touring (?'s)

Hello,

I am currently looking at a 350Z (specs below) and had a couple questions:

A.) What is a reasonable price for me to offer them?

B.) Is there anything that might be beneficial to know about this vehicle that may give me leverage in haggling?

(i.e. - my other car ('02 toyota mr2 spyder) is notorious for having catastrophic engine failure around 30,000 miles due to a ceramic material in the "precats" breaking off and getting sucked back into the cylinder's...)

2004 350Z TOURING

Mileage: 28,219
Transmission: Automatic
Premium Bose audio system
XM radio
White Leather/Charcoal interior

DEALERSHIP ASKING PRICE = $20,980

NADA CLEAR RETAIL = $18,725 (w/o nav)

DIFFERENCE = $2,255

28,000 miles is excellent. Beautiful condition.

That it's an automatic, lol.

Honestly, the car looks great, run a carfax, and make sure that it has maintenance done. 18k is a bit steep, my friend just got a 04 32k miles PPW 350Z Touring (Bose, 18in chrome, leather seats, etc...) for about 16k. For 18k, you can probably get a base 06. I wouldn't pay 18k for anything pre 06 unless it's the track model.

Check the VIN to see if its a 04.5. They made some improvements to the car that were problems on the 03 and 04. (tire feathering for example)

Make sure it's actually a Touring trim.

Price is way way way too high....especially for an auto. I paid $17500 from a dealer for my 04.5 touring 6 speed...

edit: Those don't look like the touring 18" rims...?

As guides...Look up local autotrader or craigslist for private party sales..

I have a 2003 touring auto as my DD. I love it but will sell it soon. I will list it for 12k obo

I also have my 07 base with 4700 miles ..will be listing this week for 16500 [Fl rebuilt..it was stripped at the dealer before being sold]

PS.. I do have another 6 speed track and touring roadster auto as grocery getters..

Wow that is a rip-off. I've seen numerous 06's and 07's for around that price with the same amount of miles private party.
