Default factory order and trading in car, who's done it?

I want to order a car from the factory and trade in my z when the car comes in 3 months from now, buy how does this work? Do I get a written guarantee on my trade in when I place my order? Who has ordered a car from the factory and traded in their car? I know of one guy that got a written guarantee on his trade in, but I don't want dealers telling me they can't do this for me.

It would be a horrible idea for the dealer to guarantee you a price 3 months from now. There are many variables in the value of a car. Over the course of 3 months, many of those could change and your car could be worth much less.

It would be nice if you can find someone who would do that. But unless they put all kinds of stipulations on miles, condition, etc I am not sure anyone is going to do it.

Hell you should be able to sell it on your own in three months. You just might be without a car for a while till the new one comes in.

Sell on your own. If a dealer wrote you a guarantee for a price then that price was probably less than the value of the car by a significant difference.

Also, are you selling a 370Z, how long have you had it? You would be losing a lot on it I am assuming.

Agree. Too complicated for a dealer.

But no big deal. The dealer will low ball you on the trade-in now or later. Makes little difference except:

You have a contract for a new vehicle. You are locked in to buy.

That would be December, January and February in Washington state. Not the most opportune time to be selling a sports car.

But still would get more than a dealer would give.

Very true. And I am sure the dealer would factor that in to the trade in price. Like you said, if the dealer has to commit now on the car's value 3 months from now, they will low ball the hell out of the car.

He has a 350z, Is this your DD? If not let them take it on trade now if they gave you a quote you can live with and just wait for your 370 to come in
