Exclamation Taking over friends payments on 05 Z.

Alright so basically, I'm taking over the payments of what my friend "says" is an 05 350z.
However, the Z is an AT, without steering wheel audio controls, or leather heated seats and has 17" wheels. Not a big deal to me, it's going to be my DD.
With the Z being an AT, I looked at his car, and it had the 03 shift ****. The one with the big silver wart on the side. I thought these were discontinued?

I just want to make sure that he's being truthful. He did buy it from the dealer however, and I can simply check there, but I just wanting to get an idea before hand. The car has a lot done to it. Pretty much everything besides F/I.
I'm taking over the payments of 12,000 left with the loan being transfered to my name.

INFO:
PP White.
17" Wheels.
Cruse Control.
2005 Model.
90,xxx Miles.

So if you guys could give me some advice or anything along those lines please respond or even PM me thanks!

and here I thought you were getting hooked up from a friend, instead it sounds like you are bailing him out and just gettng an 'ok' deal.

get the vin, call nissan, you told us nothing that reveals the year.

Well, price wise, appears to be fair. Read up on this list for comparisons.

AT shift ***** are the same... its a touring model. 12k is about right for the car if its an 05. you have the vin number, do yourself a favor and do a carfax on it.

Yeah the price seems to be "okay". He's more of an acquaintance more or less a friend. I suppose I should start looking at other cars for a better deal in my area. Nexx, I live in the same area as you, so in our area, 12k seems about fair. Compared to the list of sales among ebay, craigslist and dealers, this price seems to fit right in. And with all the mods, it seems to save me a lot of time and money.
I just wanted advice about should I go through with the deal or regard other cars?
Thanks.

I would not buy a vehicle with 90,000 miles.

So what kind of Z can I find with great miles under 13-14k? I see a great 06 base with no LSD for 13.9 with 50k. Is there any downside to having an auto when wanting to mod and such?

The car my friend has? So you think it's a good deal? Even though i can tell he drove hard because the treads on the tires are running thin. They're not bald though.

its an automatic so its at least an enthusiast model, there were no base AT models, only MT.

shaddy, sorry to say but you really don't have any clue about the 350Z and really shouldn't buy one without doing your research and test driving all of your options. you know there are base models, enthusiast models, touring models, grand touring models, track models, nismo models etc? do you have any idea what any of them offer or what's important to you? do you know how to tell them apart?

you think your pal drove his car hard because his tires are low on tread? wtf?

its not a whorrible deal but there are a hell of a lot better deals if you look around. I say tell your friend to sell it to someone who isn't his friend. If you want an automatic Z there is 2003 touring automatic with 70k miles silverstone. It has a salvage title but its only 8500. I bet 8000 would take it. Its in South carolina i don't know where you are from

ouch 90k on a 05.. your friend must have a long commute to work/school..

which means 90000 miles divided by 4 years (its barely feb..) = 22500 a year! OMG!!!

to compare his mileage to my 05... i have 33k miles...

if your able to get out of that deal.. please do, there are plenty of 350z's with lower mileage around that price

Lol I've looked through all models of the Z. I know that the AT only comes in the Enthusiast and touring. And with the 17" wheels, it's an enthusiast. I've just lost trust in my friend so I've came here to get reassurance. I wish I could afford a nismo but it's out of my price range. I've been researching a Z for about 6 months now, and I'm just starting to become serious about looking for a great deal. And yes I know how to tell them apart. I've driven several Z's that were AT so I have yet to feel the clutch on a MT.

The treads are lower than any other car that I've seen at 90,000 miles. Even regarding tire feathering. They're almost bald. Tires usually don't get like that unless you're tracking, which I know he has.

EDIT: I've already read through the top 100 questions several times

An 05 would be 4 year old?

sorry man, it seems like you are rushing to make a decision.........t be your friends car thats causing the push, i dunno...

you said your in Texas and from the comment to Nexx.......you must be in DFW or surrounding.

I really think you should come out to a meet and really learn difference and learn from others.

We have a meeting coming up here:
https://my350z.com/forum/meet-ups-ev...-feb-24th.html

and a

DFW tech day:
https://my350z.com/forum/meet-ups-ev...-tech-day.html

you can really learn alot, talk racing etc, and decide then what you really want........i know you mention automatic now, but if you later decide to hit up some track days your gonna wish you got MT....etc...

sometimes seeing and learning at a meet can really help you..
