Default Thinking about trading in my 04 max for a 350z

My 04 max has transmission problems, like all 04-05 maximas have.
I want to trade my maxima in for a 350z.
I'm still a student and won't be driving the car alot. I plan to do small mods like audio, HU, smoked out tailights, cai, maybe exhaust. I don't have much knowledge about the 350z's, like all the problems they might have except the feathering of the tires on the early year models. I'll want probably an 07-08 with low mileage because I'll have this car till it dies or it costs the bank to repair. I was looking at the Tourings and Enthusiasts. Leather seats are a must. (plan to smoke in the car) I hated cloth seats in my maxima. AT is a must. I won't be doing dynos or track races, only small street races with my friends probably. (i like to win also)
I've seen 350z's around 23 grand with 20,000 miles and prefer to stay under 25,000 dollars with the trade in value of the maxima.
Which 350z would be a best fit for me to drive daily?

Thanks in advance.

Wow...Since you are in Texas a 350z would be find as your daily driver...

What year do you prefer? Because the $25,000 budget is plenty enough to purchase a Used 2008 350z

And if you really prefer leather seats, you will need at least "Touring" model of the Nissan 350z

The Base, Enthusiast, Track, Performance, and Nismo Models will all have cloth seats

On Cars.com you can find 2006-2008 Touring Models ranging from the low $16,500 to around $25,000

Or you can just purchase the 350z off of a member in the Marketplace because many of the 350z will already have Forced Induction Installed

Hope that helps, it would be better if you clarified what years you would prefer

Thanks for your input.
Yeah, I saw the different trims and saw the Tourings have leather.
I really don't want alot of trouble with the car and I've heard the 07-08 doesn't have much problems.
I'll check out the Marketplace and see if I have interests in any of the cars.

Anytime!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask

I have an 2006 350z Touring and there have been no problems so far with around 43,000 miles on the car

As for the Automatic Transmission, i don't know how many there will be in the Marketplace because they are usually manual

However, on like auto websites and dealerships, there are a crazy amount of automatic transmission vehicles

I do prefer my 6-speed manual...because if you do eventually purchase the car, most people get the itch to begin some modifications and the idea of Forced Induction (Turbo or supercharger) always crosses peoples minds....

So I recommend the 6-Speed manual because of the possibility of the transmission being able to be upgraded to handle the power the Forced Induction adds to the vehicle

So...yes a manual takes time to learn, and learning on the 350z as your first manual will be a lot harder because of its small window on the clutch for a smooth shift

I own a 2002 Honda Civic EX 5-Speed and that is much less prone to jerks and jolts if you over rev when shifting

So just my opinion here, look into the 6-speed and you might possibly be happier in the future if you do decide to pick up a 350z

Yeah.

1) Buying a sports car as a student.
2) Street racing.
3) Smoking.

Not the signs of a terribly well developed intellect.

I'm in college, and I'm pretty sure there's people here that are 21.

OP you asked for it when starting a worthless thread like this. Judging by your needs maybe a 350Z isn't the right platform for you.

BTW: https://my350z.com/forum/2003-2009-n...zs-debate.html

Plenty of folks your age around here lulz.

This guy is a joke. We really dont give a shi*t that you need an automatic transmission and leather seats to meet the needs of smoking 10 packs a day. As for street racing, you are a douche .

I hear Civics are reliable and good on gas

So, let me get this straight. You are in college, strret race, and probably are broke unless mommy pays for your ****. So, help me help you.

Why do you want a 350Z? Is it for the looks of the car or the look on people's faces when you park? I bet the people's reaction will be the same as yours when you see the true cost of ownership.

Will it be under your name for insurance? If so expect about 2-300 per month. 1 or 2 racing tickets and now you're at about 500 per month and that's insurance.

Smoking in the car is dumb but it depreciates the car even more. Plus girls hate that smell.

Going to street race the car also. Ever see the aftermath of a Z involved in a street race? It's devastating. Yeah, its fun but you eventually grow up and realise the damage you can cause, tickets rack up, and from modifications your pockets become tight.

Think it all through. BTW I am 22 and an ex street racer so I can definitely relate. My advice is to save whoever is buying the car's money and invest in an RSX.
