Default What would you offer?

07 Z Roadster, one owner, sub 15K miles, blk/blk, 6MT is great condition, private sale.

Prices are all over, especially when looking at dealers. This car is asking $24,900 but winter is almost here and economy is in the dumps. If I did KBB correct the trade in is 18K and the retail is 23K.

Any thoughts?

John

Need to know the trim level for a more accurate quote. If you did KBB correctly it seems s/he is asking too much even for retail sale.

I don't to give the entire car away in case someone else is looking for a nice ZR. Here is the ad description:

Exceptionally clean low mileage 2007 350Z Touring Roadster. Rare combination of Magnetic Black over Burnt Orange ventilated & 2-stage heated power seats. 306hp 3.5L V6 & 6spd. All scheduled maintenance & all records available. One owner. Low mostly highway adult driven mileage. Never seen snow or even rain. Always garaged, and garaged & covered in winter w/battery minder used to maintain peak battery condition. NO accidents. Light, barely noticeable curb rash on passenger front rim (see pic). Tire pressure monitoring system & splash guards. Power top w/glass rear window w/defroster goes up/down in 20 sec and is in perfect condition. Rear wind deflector between the head rests etched w/ Z logo. Auto dimming rear view mirror w/Homelink. Immaculate interior w/Bose "AudioPilot" 7-speaker sound system w/sub-woofer. Illuminated steering wheel audio controls. 6 disc in-dash CD/MP3 changer. Sirius 'Dock & Play' kit installed w/FM direct adapter, receiver in center console close-able storage compartment w/antenna cleanly mounted at the base of windshield. Willing to include Sirius Sportster 3 receiver, amber back-light matches vehicle gauges. 3-bay gauge cluster has drive computer (stopwatch/digital speedo/distance to empty/ext. temperature/driving time/MPG and avg speed), oil pressure & voltmeter. Z logo embroidered carpeted floor & trunk mats, Z logo embossed aluminum kick plates & Z logo rear license plate frame. Front license plate mount not installed but included along with cargo net, Z specific premium sun shade and locking lug nuts. High Intensity Discharge (HID) bi-xenon headlights & LED taillights. Absolutely great car & a blast to drive. A brisk fall day, heated seats and the Z w/the top down on the Blue Ridge Pkwy is sublime. Ventilated seats & auto-controlled A/C make driving with the top down on even the hottest summer day totally comfortable. Get lots of positive comments, mostly "looks brand new". Selling for a convertible that will accommodate 2 child seats.

$25,000 is too much for me. Add $5,000 and you get a 370Z.

After the first snow offer $20,750.

Not too bad. I was thinking under 20K and see what happens. It's purely a toy and if I can "steal" the car I will if not no big deal. There will be others I'm sure...

OK with $20,000 but if you offer $20,000 you must be firm and stick with it.

Wow, KBB and Edmunds has this car at trade in as mid $17K and full retail at $20K. I noticed the same thing when I ran the numbers for a Boxster S. KBB and Edmunds has the car at about $25K and on cars.com, etc., they are all over $31K and most $34K??

Are the books that far off, asking prices way off or has the used car market absolutely rebounded??

Trying to pin down prices for a roadster is difficult:

a. Its a sports car not a family sedan. Supply and demand is directly related to disposable income.

b. Sales of sports cars is seasonal. Big demand in spring. Sales fall drastically in winter in snow belt states.

Use pricing variability to your advantage. A seller is more apt to deal in January than November. Remember January he has been holding the car for 3 months.

Here is a 2007 for no haggle price of $24: http://www.carmax.com/enus/view-car/...d-c6eb71509eb1

I think for mid 20's I'm going to spend a little more for an 05 Boxster S or even an 01-03 911 convert is a possibility.

OK cool but this is a 350Z forum. So neither of these cars interest us.
