Default 2008 z

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and have been doing a lot of researching on the Z. I think I've found one that I'd like to look at because I wanted to get at least the 07-08 with the HR motor with around 50k miles. The one I've found has met all my criteria http://whitewatermotors.com/used-inv...BZ34D38M706044 . The good part about it is lower miles and its still under powertrain warranty which is a plus except I was going through the carfax and theres been a wreck. http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory...BZ34D38M706044 Would that wreck deter you from buying it, after seeing that its been wrecked, I want to take it to a Nissan dealership to get looked at just to play it safe. Thanks

Buying a used car is a risk regardless of the situation.

IMO, I would keep looking. No matter how tempting it may be, I myself would never buy a car that has a damage history. You just never know what may be lurking underneath that you can't see without tearing it apart.

But, the decision is yours to make in the end. All we can do is give advice. Try to be patient because there are plenty of Zs out there. Happy shopping!

^ Agreed with the above. The seller might not be 100% truthful with what really happened to the car. Seeing as how the airbag deployed, this wasn't a small accident.

Accident reported
Involving front center impact
It ran off the road
It hit a tree
Center front primarily damaged
Vehicle towed
Front airbag deployed

Do remember, if you purchase the car and wish to sell it anytime in the future, that could deter potential sellers from looking at your car, seeing as how it's had an accident in it's history. If you wish to get a mechanic to take a full look at it inside/out, that'll let you know what was damaged in the accident. But, you never know what could go wrong in the future as a result of that, and once again, the value will be less.

I would suggest you keep looking - There are a ton of cars out there on the forums, AutoTrader.com, eBay and Craigslist. If I were you, I'd rather be 100% confident that the car I'm looking at is the one I want before I go and purchase it. Seeing as how you've posted here and you have your doubts, I wouldn't go ahead with it.

Good luck with your search!

70% of cars on the road have been in a collision and/or had paint work. With the airbag deployed etc. surprised they didn't total it out. Go check the car out drive it, compare it to others and if you really like it, low ball the f out of them and use the accident to your advantage when negotiating.

Drive the car.... If it drives smooth then rock it, it still has a warranty. Its a good price but I would haggle more since its been wrecked.

The answer is simple. Take it to an INDEPENDENT THIRD PARTY...a reputable body shop..to inspect the body and frame for damage. Most will only charge a modest fee. If there is none (bent frame), your good to go! If you don't want to do this..don't buy the car.

Why would you want to buy a wrecked Z? No point asking us how we feel about a wrecked Z. You're the one that's gonna be driving it. You gonna be okay knowing you bought a Z that was ran off the road and hit a tree?

That looks like an enthusiast (not a base). For $18K that's a pretty good price for an 08 with under 40K mi. I bet he could negotiate for 17K easy. Now...the question remains>>>WHAT KIND OF DAMAGE IS STILL EVIDENT on the car?? If the frame is in good shape, then that's all you need to know here.
Get it inspected by a body shop..no brainer. If I were the OP, I would negotiate a deal for $16750K AND a contigency that if inspection shows frame damage, the deal is voided.

My opinion on this matter is... Carfax generally isn't reliable. Now IF Carfax does happen to have that much info on the accident recorded, it prolly was pretty serious. Also that car had 2 or 3 previous owners. Doesn't seem too legit.

HEHE...

It's all speculation unless a professional takes a CLOSE look at the FRAME and determines if there was any damage that's still evident. This isn't rocket science.

Agree. A wreck can mean a $100 paint scratch or $10,000 with frame damage. Considering the report says airbag deployed, this is a serious wreck. Pass.
