I live in Chicago, and the lowest quote I got was $33,200

MSRP is $35,170 and Invoice Price is $32,317

$33,200 is to high. I'd pay $32,200 A lot of people on the forum have bought their Z for invoice and some below.

For a 2004? I paid MSRP for mine and I think you're going to have a hard time finding anything close to that price this time of year. $33,200.00 seems very reasonable.

By the way, this isn't "Believer in HIT" from another board is it?

Yes people are buying at and under invoice. Just look on ebay motors and do a search on VPP (Vehicle Purchase Program)

When buying a car, the asking price is what's referred to as "stupid price." You're not expected to pay that. Know that the salesman has latitude, and he expects to be asked about a lower price.

Do your homework, they want to sell cars.

hahaha, stick to roasting weenies before you give out car buying advice to the likes. You're preaching to the choir.

I bet 1% of this forum bought under invoice here, and that was because of a family member being in the car business.

I'm sure I could have haggled MSRP down a couple of hundred, but mine had the exact options and color I wanted. I'm also willing to bet 30-40% of folks on this board paid MSRP for an 2004.

ebay?thats funny..i havent seen any new cars selling under invioce on there i see alot of low numbers with a reserve not met ...on there
do you even know what vpp is buddy?i seriously doubt it....i do since i actually sell the cars....
ill tell you what you tell me what vpp is and how it works and if you are halfway correct ill not say anymore....
but i know you cant do that......
no new zcars are selling at under invioce as a matter of fact 70 percent of them are at or very close to msrp
thats why the residual is so high on them

Melissa, read the book "You Can Negotiate Anything" by Herb Cohen. It's an empowering work that I would highly recommend.

Yep I know what the VPP is, if you need info on the program call 1-800-299-4753

You said no new zcars are selling at under invioce, check out this post. Are you calling them liars?

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....&highlight=VPP

I don't work for Nissan, but I managed to get my VPP discount through a friend of mine who does work for them. Here's the process:

1. Call up friend, ask him for VPP number.
2. Friend fills out online form with Nissan, leaving his name, employee number, and other information, as well as my name, address, and phone number (the person who will be using the VPP number).
3. Once all this information is entered, my friend gets assigned a VPP number right away. He calls me and tells me what it is.
4. I pick up a business card from my friend.
5. Go to dealership, tell the fleet manager you want to buy a car under VPP. Give them the number and business card.

That's it. I didn't need a co-signature and my friend did not need to be present. Nissan already had my friend's name and identifying information on file in their VPP database after he entered it online.

HIT don't worry just stay away from a sales person like that. The bottom line is if Nissan sells cars to friends and family under invoice and makes money they should sell you a car near the invoice price. You are real close at $33,200 Make and offer and see what they do, you can see what type of people you are up against. Good luck.

i can't believe no one made any jokes about the "gooc price" subject. hehe...

I'm glad you got the car. It can really get stressful trying to get a "good deal". Welcome to the club. You're gonna love it!

actually the sales manager and not the salesman....
see if you knew how vpp worked you would know the dealership is reimbursed from nissan for taking the loss on the car....the dealership actually makes money doing vpp....thats why i asked if you knew how it worked.....

which you didnt....

i can break down the whole vpp plan for you expaining its advantages to the consumer and the dealership and where the discount comes from and how you get x% off and then charged back x% and what it all works out to be...

you cant make money selling cars under invoice to someone that isnt vpp

as ive stated in another post ill sell any coupe 500 over invioce and any roadster 1000 over invoice all day long (if i have it in stock)
i discount more than any other dealership i know of on the zcar....

im not an ******* but i cant stand for someone that doesnt know alot about how the car bussiness works to say things they "believe to be true"

hit if you have any questions pm me ill give you all the assistance you need to help your experiance easy and let you know what kind of deal your actually getting.... i think you have 200 to 300 more you can get from them just like i said in an earlier post

Buy it.

There is always at least one numnuts that will say you can do better. If you said the dealer was giving you the car & paying the license fee, at least one person would respond that they had received a free car AND the dealer threw in a years supply of gas!! LOL!
