Thanks for all the replies. Based on your opinions and experiences, I have decided to hold off on the Z (as much as I really want one!). Going to save more money also.

I wasn;t planning on keeping both cars. I was going to sell my integra and use that money to put into the Z, actually.

I have two cars 350z and civic si). Let me tell you it adds up quick for insurance, gas and repairs. I LOVE both cars but it's a pain to store the z in winter.

Don't get me started on the scrappy window motors

$200 a month which actually isn't that bad. But it's double what it could still be .

Insurance in a 350Z is cheap as hell if it's not DD. I have the Juke, wife's civic, Escalade, and the Z. I pay $480/yr for my Z in insurance. When it was new I was driving it as a primary it was still only 80/month. Gas is always relative. Storage is the worst.

Hello everyone,

I would like to own a 350z. I am currently driving an 2000 Acura Integra GS. I've had this car for about 2 1/2 years now, runs great and I'm happy with it; however, I would really like to get myself a 350z. Been thinking about it for years.. I'm 21 years old (22 in a couple weeks), and as that goes ive saving up cash for a 350z. I would really like to get an 04-05 enthusiast/performance/touring model. At my age, do you think I should wait? I live in Cali, make about 700$ bi-weeky and attend community college and still living at home. Is Buying a 350z be too expensive to maintain at my age? Gas (my integra is about 38-40$ on 3.90$) ? another note, Right now I pay about $75 for insurance..
I didn't bother reading the rest of the thread, so I don't know if you got your answer or not.

I'm 22, I got my Z a year ago when I was 21. I have 5 cars insured on my own, you just need to ask your insurance to see if its something you can afford or not. When I was in collage, I drove my landrover and that thing was way more expensive than my Z and I made less than what you make now. I think you will be fine if you really want it, you just need to know how to handle your money wisely. Gas on my Z isn't all that bad. I average about 22 city, 28 mix and 34 highway and I commute about 70 miles one way each day.

Hope you find your answer bud, and welcome to the Z forums.

At this point, I'd say save up and get a 370z later.

... If you can't afford to buy the Z without selling the integra then you shouldn't buy a Z

I'd wait until you graduate from college and get your first job. Get settled in and reward yourself later on for all your hard work.

It'll probably take a beating in your college's parking lot anyway, and you'll want to spend money on mods.

Hang on to the Integra and keep it as a DD as long as you can IMO

The z is a great car. But I know when I was in college 30 mpg trumped anything else. I was eating roman noodles and living paycheck to paycheck. I can't imagine having to pay for gas at the time at 18 mpg

You can get 35mpg with a z at around 45-50 mph in 6th gear

Yeah I thought about it for a while and I am going to focus and try to finish school. The Z is something I want, but not what I need right now.. So yeah thanks for the tip.

You guys are awesome. Thank you for the input. I've made my decision and I'm holding off on the Z until I finish school. Couple years or so, but one day it will be mine!!
Ps. Love these forums
