Default Value Inquiry - APS Twin Turbo Z33

Hey everyone, I've been involved with performance imports and racing for ten years but I've never gotten my hands on a 350Z quite like this one. I was hoping to get the opinion of you guys because I know, coming from enthusiast communities, that you are the core of the market.

What do you guys think a retail value is for this car?

I was thinking around 30k

Thanks in advance,

Alexander T Newell

Looks like a real nice car! But, I think $30K is a bit much for a car that still has a stock motor, you didn't list any upgraded engine internals. I think it is realistically $20k-$25k. It has low miles and looks real clean, do you know how much whp it is making? Also, 350Zs have the carbon fiber drive shaft from the factory. Good luck with your sale, I'm sure someone will be real excited to own it!

Seems to me the color is off on that body kit. For that much I expect the paint to be blended in to the car.

Thanks! From the information I gathered from the shop that worked on this car previously it's making 430rwhp. The shops owner mentioned something about top end work on the motor but he doesn't remember what exactly went into it, so I've opted not to disclose any information about internals because I don't want to mislead anyone. Although, now I'm feeling like maybe an autopsy of the engine is in order.

Thanks for the heads up about the carbon drive shaft, I had no clue! haha

You're absolutely right. We had to repair the front bumper so we had it re-sprayed. The next step is bringing it in so that they can blend the sliver back into the rest of the car.

I got a little excited about taking pictures of the car once we got the bumper back. It will look much better in a couple days.

I suspect you will need to market it for several months to get a buyer willing to pay for all the mods. Without a verified dyno chart and receipts for a built shortblock, any educated buyer will be leery of paying more than $24K for it. If the engine goes, so does much of your asking price. That's the problem with selling a modded car without any documentation.

Matching the kit to the body is better than matching the body to the kit. Nothing beats original paint, that devalues the car for me. Most large dealerships would agree as well.

It looks like a good car. But many buyers will steer clear of it because of the turbo. I personally wouldn't ever buy a twin turbo z from experience it will need a lot of maintaining it. It probably cost a lot for the turbo and seeing that part list makes me drool.

I think you can get $19,000-22,000. Depends on the buyer. That's a lot of cash as I don't think any buyers will qualify for an auto loan.

The volks alone are worth thousands. I think you would make more parting it out and then selling the z as stock retail value.

INGS makes that fender, although there are also replicas around, AutoTecknic etc.

As a motor dealer how would you be able to sell that car in California (as a road car) without a smog certificate? Also air bag removed, noncompliant seatbelts etc. Track only cars have trouble finding a buyer if they are not built to be completive in a narrowly defined, sanctioned racing class. Super nice build though.

Having non compliance with the seatbelts and no airbags I can't see a normal z driver buying this. Certainly not for daily driver or road use. I think this deminishes the value unless you find the right buyer.

I'm in the market for a FI Z (or a track Z) and let me say folks are dumping their builds.....In the past 2 weeks I've seen 6 cars, all under $20K, most with low mileage....some with forged motors....and low mileage.
One thing they all have in common is that NONE of the tunes are all that good which if not quick is slow death for an FI car.

OP on your car.....
-Love the body kit
-Paint needs to be matched which can cost $2K
-Show me the Dyno chart with AFR readout so I can tell how good the tune is.
-It looks like it was set-up as a club racer...has it ever seen the track? That would be a good thing to me...would demonstrate reliability...or was it just built for looks? Some people do that.
-Club racers rarely take aftermarket FI cars to the track (roadrace)....too much heat...and not reliable....like those blue oil hoses look like a problem for the track.
-On the emissions...I can always register the car in AZ.
-CA DMV doesn't care about airbags and harnesses, but insurance companies do.

You'll be lucky to see $20K for it...... :-(
If you send me the dyno sheet I'll make you an offer.
With the low mileage though (17K?)....its probably worth more if you put the drive train back to stock and sell the turbo kit separately.
