Suggestions Needed!!!! BUYING A Z SOON!!!
I can relate to you completely cocacola. Im 18 now and originally wanted a new g35 coupe last summer. I was in a similar situation and decided to wait about a year and get a 350Z. You cant really afford it at a job like that even though you think you might. I have a really good job and make a lot more money then 800 a month and i still struggle to afford the car. Just because on paper it seems like you can pay.. its alot of money besides payments. I also pay over 3000 a year without discount for ins and i pay gas. This is all besides the fact if your going to school like i am, you will need money for food and alcohol among other things. It just will NOT be worth it. If anything.. wait around and SAVE until you get a really good deal on a used one locally. But to be realistic you sound a lot like i did last year and i came to my senses and waited.. you should do the same. If your rents have money.. youll have a backbone and maybe they will help with some payments.. otherwise your going to ruin your rents credit if you can somehow convince them to co-sign for a loan. Theres a lot more going on behind doors then monthly payments trust me. Best of luck either way
DON'T DO IT! Even if you manage to fit your insurance and payments into that 650/month figure, you have to account for gas and REPAIRS! Also, with a Z and your age (believe me i know from experience dude, if you knwo what I mean) you'll be f*cked if you get in any accidents or tickets, because that insurance will go through the roof.
Also, you're going to want more than 50 bucks a month for spending money!

do you guys think i should get around a 8-9 grand car for now? because i am willing to use that for a year until i get my job going and get more hours then trade in for a Z..... possible? i wonder how my friends financing his 24,800 subaru? his dad put 5 grand down and hes payin the rest.......
Now you're talkin!!! The only problem you might run into is that an 8 or 9 thousand dollar car is probably going to be used. What that means is that the terms on the loans available to you are going to get shorter, thus increasing your payment.
A few years back, I bought a 1997 Ford Probe for around 12K. I got an average rate over 48 months and my payments were still $265/month. Insurance would be much better on something like this though, which would leave more money in your budget. The Probe's are sporty little cars, and I can tell you from experience, they'll take a beating and keep running
I believe you are thinking along the right lines now....Keep brainstorming!
Not to preach, but I really suggest you sit down and draw up a budget. Be realistic about how much you make and how you want to live. The "miscellaneous" expenses often make up the largest category in a budget. Once you've decided what you're comfortable with, fit your car payment within that number rather than trying to fit the numbers inside the car payment. You'll be alot happier in the long run.
Good luck!

Definitely wait and save, and don't forget about income tax! You generally get to bring home about 70-80% of what you make. I've been dreaming about and saving up for the Z for about a year, and I've gotten to a point where I can put a large down payment on one, and actually afford to drive it and live nicely.
Here's what I suggest you do. Go to college, study hard, and get a good job and then all the rewards of your hard work will pay off big time. I sound like my dad, but he was right. I worked my *** off for 7 years in school, driving a Ford Escort around, and ended up getting a rocket science degree from MIT (not kidding!), and now I have a great satellite engineering job and make enough to afford a place to live and a nice car.
Point is this, no matter what your background, if you work hard and save your $$, then the rewards will be even sweeter, and you'll be able to enjoy them that much more. It is also a great way to determine how bad you REALLY want that Z.

I have to agree. Don't do it. B/c life is about more than just a car. If you buy that car that means all u do is work for your car. No money to go out and have fun.
I'd say get a cheaper car, cause you do need a car.
The GTS is nice.
Have you thought about a VW GTI? You can get a late model in the low teens and it has a turbo. I kept up with a 350Z from 0-100 in my GTI (chip/exhaust/intake).

The used car idea is good and all.. but you have to realize you just arent going to make enough money to make up for the loss between now and when you sell it. It could be literally 5 monthes of payments lost. So you would have to make that much more in order to afford the Z when time comes. My suggestion.. go lower then 8 or 9.. buy a junker for a year or not a car at all. Who cares what you drive.. if its not a Z then why do you care. I know, im around your age.. id drive a junker around and then in a year you will be laughing and loving it because you saved your money and it was worth it because youll have a Z. Kids will break their necks and at 18/19 youll be the youngest kid youll see in a Z. If you dont want a junker make sure you find a VERY good deal where you wont loose money between when u buy the used car and when u sell it. At this point.. a couple grand is a BIG deal. Good luck

Seriously, don't do it. You're trying to fly too high too fast (financially speaking) and you'll just end up having to come back to earth rather than staying in orbit (i think mentioning the rocket science degree is causing this analogy, sorry to be so corny).
You are young, it's normal to want things, but if keeping up with the Jones' is the impetus for this large amount of debt, it will lead to nothing but being unhappy during the time you should be beginning your professional career.
In my opinion, get a 96-98 Honda Civic and drive the hell out of it till you're outta college. The thing's practically bullet proof and you can cut your teeth in on a honda 5-speed. Move out of the nest, time to be a big boy and get your own apartment, live a life rather than being a pack rat at your parents and accumulating stuff.

I bring home 3400 a month after taxes and i still think the z takes up too much of my budget at $750 a month (514 payment + 215$ insurance). that only leaves me with 2650 a month spending money....thats right 2650 is not enough spending money for me for one month! How the hellll can you get by on 175$!?!?!
