Well it doesn't seem like you have much of a choice, cause you kinda have to fix those things.

I dont know abou the loan, but the best thing is to save up and fix what's most important first. as long as it drives ok.

well those problems arent bad, its just power steering leaks from the pressure hose and rack and pinion, driveshaft needs to be replaced because the center bearing cracked , i will get a one piece aluminum drive shaft if i replace it. Pressure hose and rack and pinion will cost me ok price. im thinking about it.....

My last car was '90 300ZX 2+2 with low miles and one owner. The prior owner serviced it regularly, and only at the dealership. I bought with 78k miles and it was totalled at 105k. Fortunately (very fortunately), I had an aftermarket warranty. It cost $1700 extra for 2 years. In the 2 years I owned it, I had ALL kinds of problems. Over $4000 worth. Most of it was in injectors and seals. The warranty covered about two-thirds of that. Parts on this car are NOT cheap, and neither is the insurance. I am only paying about $2 more/mo for the brand new Z, than the 14 year old one. Figure that out!

One of the things I replaced out of pocket that was not covered was the driveshaft with an aftermarket aluminum one. I believe it was $400+$75 shipping. Then it was over $200 for install (exhaust needs dropped). I don't even want to imagine what a rack and pinion would cost. Over a G easy just for parts.

The car was great don't get me wrong, but it is a money pit it sounds like you can't afford in your situation without a warranty of sorts. Just advice from an "old man" on his 3rd Z car.

If I were you, I go to college, and make a lot of friends at the bus stop, libraries, group studies, picnic, pursue the scholarship. It's so much fun, I always remember that part in my life. If I could, I will go back. You also feel big because you have a lot of money since you don't throw it for the car, there is a lot of fun playing the money in the investment. Investing earlier you get rich in no time, time fly, and at one point you can just pick any car you want, especially when you already have a permanent job. As long as your parent support you, keep investing your money for fun, and learn to be an expert, that's fun too.

How have you been getting to work all this time?

Keep doing that until you have enough cash to get the car going. Then save for college.

If you just want to go fast, get a motorcycle for a couple grand.

If it is a yellow light you are to try to stop not "see if you can make it".....yellow light is to slow down and stop, not speed up.....well at least your getting the car fixed

um you really think your ins will cover a driveshaft, clutch, and brakes? are you daft?

were you cited at fault for the accident?

im surprised they dont just total it almost all side impacts mess the frame up so if this happened your car will likely not drive right.

yes they will cover it. if the light is yellow, and i was in the intersection i was clear to go, then this dumb ***** decides to turn thinking she can make it.

my mechanic says he will fix every problem in my car, even the problems i had before the accident.

Did the police issue citations or link any fault on the police report?

I guess you may not have the report yet....

Witness's saying that you were running a redlight is not good, but she still turned into your lane so it shouldnt matter.

I was reading this as you both were going in the same direction...or was it she was trying to cross over an oncoming lane?

EL Diablo had the best answer by far, juxtaposed to his avatar. Perfect.
