Default Suggestions Needed!!!! BUYING A Z SOON!!!

Hey guys whats up,
My dad told me i shouldnt be wasting my time ( looking at cars ) until i get a job. Well i got a job yesterday guys! graphic designing at 10 dollars an hour for 4 hours a day, 5 days a week.

I want to buy a 350Z. I make about 800 a month.

I talked to jason at performancenissanparts and he referred me to KEN. Ken called me up last night and told me that he can get me the base model Z at 28700 out the door. I really like this deal alot. But i want to know what i should do before getting the car.

Some people tell me that i couldnt afford it. I also gota pay for insurance.

Well this is what i got planned out.

Insurance for a Z is 1590 every 6 Months, or 261 a Month
If i get student discount its 1198 every 6 months or 198 every month. I am going to try to get the student discount and save money. but say i do pay 261 a month, the 350z at a 4 year loan i will be paying 408 a month, with a 6 year loan at 365 a month, that leaves me with 170 a month for maintanance and stuff.

SO

365 6 Year Loan
261 Insurance
TOTAL 626

174 LEFT.

What do you guys think of this? should i work for a couple of months until summer? so i know i got back up money? or should i get the Z asap? i want to do whats easiest for me so i wont have any problems.

PLEASE GIVE SUGGESTIONS,

Thanks Alot Guys
Abe

Wait. You do not want to tie all your money up into a car.

How old are you? I say wait. You just got a job yesterday - a part time job. How long do you think you'll be working at this job? What if you don't like it? Then what? Save your money until you're financially stable, then get your Z.

I think I speak for everyone reading your post when I say.....PLEASE DON'T DO IT...I'm begging you...please don't, really. The Z is an awesome car, and I would recommend it to almost anyone, but what you are describing is financial suicide!!! With only $170/month left over, it will take you almost 6 months just to pay for a set of tires on your car. You haven't factored in gas (at 2 bucks a gallon, you're looking at $30 to fill your tank, if you do that twice a month, you have $100 left. Now it will take you a whole year to afford new tires) or the fact that you might want to have some of your hard earned money to do something else besides sit in your car. Also keep in mind that warranties don't cover everything. If you have just a $200 deductible and you even so much as ding a door, fixing it will cost you 1/6th of your left over money for the entire year. Please don't do this.

You will live poor, and eventually you will hate your car for what it has done to you.

Trust me, in my younger days, I overextended myself in the name of a fast car, and it is NOT NOT NOT something you should do. Find a cheaper car.

Holy Smokes! Yes, you def. should wait my man. What if you end up losing your job? Plus, your car payment should be no more then a 1/3 of what you pull in a month. And daaaammmnnn....your insurance is outrageous! $174 left per month?? C'mon, you have to be logical here. Don't let a car of all things break you - how much fun will it be driving around your car when you have no $$ to spend when you get where your going? Not worth it - I'm sure your mom has told you that patience is a virtue

No she hasnt!!! she prolly doesnt know what any of those words mean lol, Im arab, my dad owns a liquor store, im sure he can help me out if im struggling with payments, my dad wouldnt let me down like that. The reason he was telling me to get a job before looking is because he wants to see that im a responsible person.

If you want a car so badly, why not get a used car for now?

No, not hookin' up good at all. I bought my performance for $26k (with 5k miles).

Here's a suggestion: Buy a nice 300 twin turbo for now - you can find some nice ones, there probably faster, and....you can get a one in the $10-12k range. Check Ebay or Autotrader.

If I was you, I'd save up for an apartment or somewhere else to live other then the 'rents - more fun than a car!

forget affording the gas or tires...if you take a girl out on a date she's gonna expect more than a mcdonald's drive-through if you pick her up in a Z

You haven't figured taxes into your equation. If you make $10/hr working 80 hours a month, you'll probably bring home about $650.

Re-do your budget and see where that puts you.

I am letting my car break me. I say do it, only if you know you can keep a job and if that "job" is gonna last. To help your parents out try and get it in your name.

What options are on the base model you want?

You know, it's funny: for the past 10 years I've been the perfectly responsible husband. I didn't buy any luxury items; I saved my money; I put cash into my 401K; I supported my family.

Then my wife left me and the burden of responsibility fled. Since alimony and child support do NOT come into the equation, I had a pretty good amount of extra cash per month.

So what did I do? The thing I've ALWAYS wanted to do: indulge myself in a sports car. So I bought my roadster. The effect? I'm poor again.

But ya know what? Who the hell cares?! I worked long and hard to get to the place I am right now and if that means I need to buy generic soap instead of Dove, so be it.

But that's just my situation. I do recommend that before you put yourself in the poorhouse over a car, that you spend a few years doing the opposite. I did and I have absolutely NO guilt doing what I'm doing now.

If you think you can afford it, just buy the car.

WERD! Thats how my parents think. You got money use it; whats the point of just holding on the money and do nothing with it. Dont get me wrong they have 401K and yes they save, but they also live.

Its funny guys at my dads work make killer money, and they drive POS's and live in a very old homes, when you know damn well they could be living it up.

I could understand being a doctor, nurse, ect. not having the time or need.

To MrNicholas, the car you are driving is well deserved because as you said : You worked LONG AND HARD for it. This kid has not even started working yet and wants to buy a car that he can barely afford.

To CocaColaDrunkie, wait a bit before purchasing beyond your means. I mean you are only working 20 hours a week at a job that is not yet stable. Maybe if you find full time work and you are somehow able to double your salary, I say go ahead and buy the Z because your parents will still give you allowance I assume. But I know what it feels like to be young and want the best car possible, especially if your friends are buying BMWs like you mentioned. But honestly, you are setting the bar a little too high for yourself. What if you end up buying the Z right now and get to drive that for a couple of years, but then a couple years down the line when your parents arent supporting you anymore, you then have to jump into a used Civic or something comparable because you cant afford anything at that point.

My opinion, at least wait it out a couple of months and drive around in your mom's car until then.
