Default Prices on Z's

Does anyone think that the prices, with the economy and auto sales slumping, will go down even further for the Z. Or can make a good deal for it.

You should be able to find them at MSRP still. Just do some checking on the Nissan website to see what MSRP for what you want, that way the dealer can't screw you.

The demand is still too high bad economy or not.

If you want to deal, you will have to wait till about mid 2003.

Car and home sales are not down that much. Really, the only thing in bad shape is the market. Unemployment is in the 5's, which, back when I was a finance major in college just a few years ago was considered "full" employment (that thought has now changed, just interesting from a historical perspective).

I would say car sales aren't down much because of all the incentives and 0% financing. Unfortunately, the Z doesn't fall into these groups. As long as demand outpaces supply, prices will be at/near msrp. The question is, how many people have the extra income for a fairly impractical 2 seat sports car that has no rebates/discounts/interest rate deals, and for how long?

Default 350Z at MSRP - St. Louis, MO

Bommarito Nissan has (had) a black Touring at MSRP on Monday - that's when I picked up my Silverstone Enthusiast.
PM me and I'll give you details on the Touring.

Actually, car sales are way down, incentives or not. Just in the last month sales of cars are down 1.2 %. That may or may not include used cars which would hurt the sample. Home sales are up, but definately not car sales. And for the unemployment rate history, being in the 5's is bad, but too bad we've been in the 6's for sometime now.

My Government teacher mentioned the other day that currently full employment is 3%, so its not that bad.

It used to be taught that full employment was 6% due to job changes, etc. Of course, this was 10 years ago The recent history has proven that to be a bit high, but historically, that was pretty good. Just remember Jimmy Carter!

Actually, the unemployment rate in September was below 6. It was 5.6% to be exact.

I'm not sure if I'm wrong on sales being up, either. I know the domestics are up for most of the year (due to the incentives and rates). I just picked this off my first Google hit, although it is only on August numbers.

Good things don't last forever, so these damn dealers better get it while they can.

In Cinci I have been to 5 dealers in the past 4 days. Only one was quoted me at MSRP and then they wanted $2500 non-refundable deposit. The rest wanted $3000 over sticker. One came down to $1200 over sticker, wow. I can tell you for sure if Nissan bring as many into the US as they plan these prices will not last. These dealers are just riding the first "gotta" have one now wave. And I am looking to order one for delivery in late Jan 03, I really don't "gotta" have one right now.

Classic story related to this discussion:

I purchased a new 99 Trooper Luxury Edition for 31k after haggling with the dealer from 35k. I was all proud of my great negotiation skills and was loving life.

I decided to trade that same vehicle in two months ago for a number of reasons which I won't waste your time with. How much did I get?? 11k. That's right, lube me up. Part of the problem was the blue and black books do not break out the different models when they give you the vehicle's value, unlike every other car they list. Very strange. The economy was rocking in 99, not anymore. I also noticed an ad for a brand new 2003 Trooper the other day for something like 14k, stripped down, but still, come on Isuzu. I will never own another one of those tird buckets again.
