Best Discount Price?
Was wondering how everyone did with the final purchase price of their Z.
Here are some specifics regarding the car.
Purchase date: July, 2004
State: Pennsylvania (Metro Philly area)
Dealer: Conicelli Nissan (Norristown, PA)
Model: Coupe/Touring
Color: Liquid Aluminum
Transmission: Auto
After MUCH negotiating, and "arm wrestling", the dealer dropped $3,000.00 off the sticker price.
They kept it up about the "rarity" of the color, but that was not something I cared about.
Curious about how other's have fared?
Once the deal was struck, no problems and a totally great experience.

This is my first post so if I use the wrong wording please forgive me.
After about 4-5 months of shopping I picked my wife to-be (Oct 23rd 04) a SS Touring used Roadster with 1,245 miles last weekend. Burnt orange leather vented seat’s all the extras expect 18's and Navigation. Paid 32 flat out the door got new car finance rate 3.8%. Latter found the window sticker of 38,459 in the storage area behind the seat. The dealer was great did all my calling over the phone. Got a quote and a car fax before I went to look at the car. Test drove the car then filled out paper work. No problems at they even gave Rachel a Nissan balloon for her scrapbook (small things make her happy)
Now the honeymoon has changed plans. Now we are headed for the Smokey Mountains for the leaves changing and runs at Deals Gap and the other great roads in the area. Been there many time before on the motorcycle so I know what I'm getting myself into there are some great roads in that area.
So what would be the best thing to upgrade by then? Exhaust, Intake, the groups thoughts would be much appreciated.

Just out of curiousity what kind of credit rating does it take to get a less than 4% rate?
What would a 670 rating get me
how about a 700?
Thats one big variable I am looking at when considering buying a Z in December, and the rate will obviously effect what options and even what model I will be getting... and while I knwo my number, I have no clue what rate it will get me!
Also does having cash down and pre-approval help with negotiation?
Also, when I do go into negotiate, should I just say flat out I want $500 over Invoice (since it will be end of year) for an 04? Or are there other tactics I should use? Every penny counts here

How much more will I be paying for an 05?
I suppose in August some point we will find if the 05 has any significant changes...
I wonder if I should go for an 05 in that case...
But.. where can I determine invoice? And is 500 over invoice something I could reasonably expect?
To be honest, I hate the haggling game, but I know I gotta do it so I dont get taken, and I would love pointers....

I have never had a problem getting great rates its always been at the credit union 1st then the car dealer best rates. I just tell them whom ever can do better I'll use. I have always done all research at the bank before I go to the dealer. Also make sure you compare a new car rate to used car rate. In the long haul a new car might be better becasue of the finance rate you will get.
Also I never tell them I have anything to put down or a trade until the very last moment.

Interesting about thew down BHopper, thanks.
I am a member of the local credit union, in fact, my car is financed through them now!
I have been looking at used Zs, but unfortunatly (sort of) the resale value is really high on them! Thats good if you need to sell though hehe.
But I am thinking I would rather go new so I could get a lower rate, more warranty, and that new car smell.
I am contemplating getting the base, but I am really thinking the Enthusiast will be worth thr 30-40 more dollars a month for the LSD.
But right now, it seems like an Enthusiast sells for 28500k or so. How much lower could I get if I really pushed and negotiated well?
December cannot come soon enough hehehehe.

$500 over invoice is a definate possibillity. I can get one at that price... the dealer is not local though, but they are gonna do something super awesome, fax/mail me an "official" quote (on their letter head, with their phone number and all) for me to take to my local dealership... if they don't match it (which they probably will) then I'll just fly to the other dealership, and drive the 6 hours back (no trade-in). The $500 over invoice is through the fleet department, who does not make commision on the amount over the invoice price, which is usually how the salesmen get their commision, its based on the amount over invoice that it sells at.... but... invoice is not really the true price of the car because of something called holdback, which I think is a few percent, that nissan will give the dealer after they have sold it...
The Enthusiast is the best value according to me (I lvoe mine) and the boards). When you goto the Enthusiast, you get LSD, HID's, Cruise Control, and Homelink.
Also, for the person that negotiated the $$ off the sticker, NEVER start at Sticker and go down from there. ALWAYS start at invoice price (see edmunds.com) and negotiate up from there.

Were there any end of year rebates or special offers in Dec 04 for the Z? I wonder if there will be this year, or if I will even be able to find an 04... and if I did, it would HAVE to be cheaper so the dealer can avoid taxes, right?
Is December a good time to buy or should I wait till Jan or Feb (as if I even could)
mp3car if you dont mind my asking, how did you manage to find such a great deal? I wouldnt mind taking a flight (road trip in a brand new Z sounds like a helluva vacation!) if it got me the car I wanted at the price I wanted.

dealers are soo stupid, I said here is my offer. $500 over. then the dealer has the nerve to say thats my invoice, then I made a smart remark (then nissan is ripping you ) and walked out after he offered me 31K for the same car,,
On May 28 this year I paid $99.00 over invoice. Brand new 04 ZR. The car had 35 miles on the od.
