OEM Oil Filter Pricing . . .
Ok so from doing a search on the forum, it looks like the preferred OEM filter is part# 15208 - 9E000. Someone mentioned on the forum that this is a Maxima filter and has better filter material and is slightly larger than the OEM Z filter. Called the local dealer in Garden Grove and they are stating that it is $6.52 per filter. Is it worth it to buy this one over the Mobil 1 filter? It seems like there is such a hugh array of opinions on which is best. I guess the question is, if you are replacing the oil and filter every 3000-5000 miles, then does it matter? Thanks for reading.

The Mobil 1 filter filters oil better than any other filter on the market. Its also more expensive than any other filter on the market (about $12). I'm using an MI-105. Its much larger than the filter that's spec'ed for the Z and its supposed to have a better anti-drainback valve (compared to the other Mobil-1 filters).
Is it worth it? The stock filter is held toghether with cardboard (internally) and I can't imagine that it filters worth crap (OEM's use the absolute cheapest parts they can) I would never put something like that on my car. I track my car (road course) as often as I can so the extra filtration worth extra money to me since this is my only car. The other nice thing is that using the Mobil-1 oil filter and oil, you can go 5k-7.5k between filter changes and 10k-15k between oil changes (according to engineers at Mobil).

Ok, I just ordered a case of the Nissan OEM oil filters I was asking about. $5.72 per filter at the local dealer. I probably could have found them cheaper, but whatever. Done deal, I don't need to worry about buying any oil filters for the next 50K miles.
