Question Best Zaino applicator???

Okay... I have a long weekend coming up and my Zaino ready. One thing I have noted is that the Zaino "kit" i got only has one small applicator.

For all the Zaino-masters out there, what have you found to be the best items to apply and remove Zaino from you car. I know 100% cotton is the best, but that still leaves a wide range of things. What do you use???

Nothing special Duckster. I use the Zaino applicators (I have a bunch of them, at least two for every Zaino product I use. They were cheap, like $2.50 so I got several. Also, they give you a free one for every $25 you order.

As for taking off, I use all cotton American made towels with all the tags cut off and no rough edge stitching. I also have one of these for every Zaino product I use. Got them at good old Wal Mart.

I also buy alot of the Zaino applicators. I've been buying 100% cotton towels from Kevin Overall, the TN Zaino distributor, his e-mail address is koverall@cddn.com He removes the stiching, trims them to requested size, full, half or quarter, and restiches them with cotton thread. I've bought a bunch of his Charismas, they are the best. I also use Gerber flat baby diapers. They are also 100% cotton.

Dr Bonz, how do you keep your towels from fraying? I also bought some nice white towels from W-M, trimmed off all the edges etc. but what a mess they make when washed. I get lint when using them on the car too.

I've been looking for someone that supplies or can stitch up towels so they don't fray. I'll be contacting Kevin.

I've heard that even "100% cotton" diapers usually have polyester threads either on the edges or the center seam.

To be honest with you. I just let them fray. I pick off the frayed threads and throw them alway. They always seem to get stuck in the "Z" of the 350Z emblem on the rear hatch!

I use the baby diapers too. They are great for final polishing/buffing!

I keep cutting all the frayed ends too after each washing but what a mess. Yea, I've learned to rub from left to right on the emblem.

Do you notice the static on the bumpers? I thought Zaino was supposed to help reduce this. I have to take my damp Z6 towel and give it a quick wipe.

There are thousands of kinds and brands of towels, but we recommend after testing many different kinds at Zaino Fieldcrest towels, probably the biggest and most well known towel maker. I only use Fieldcrests top of the line towel which is the Charisma line. These are very thick and dense, each towel weighs about a pound and a half. They are made of 100% pima cotton, 720 terry loops per square inch.

These kind are not sold in discount stores like WalMart or KMart, they sell for 18 to 20 dollars each in stores like Bed Bath and Beyond. I buy them factory direct by the case load.

I buy only white towels, I then either cut them into halves (2 parts) or quarter (4 parts) I like the 2 parters for removing Zaino and the 4 parters for using the Z-6 detail spray.

To deal with the problem of the hard factory edges and the fraying problem if you cut them off with scissors I run these towels thru a machine I own called a Serger, this machine automatically trims off the hard factory edges and replaces it with a soft serged edge using triple stiched cotton thread.

After cutting and resewing I package each pack of towels in a zip lock bag to keep them clean for shipment to the customer.

I get less static from Zaino than I ever did with anything else but that is one thing that is gereat about the Z-6, it eliminates the static. I always Z-6 after polishing anyway. I usually Z-6 before I drive my car and after I get back.

Regarding the static on the bumpers...it happens cuz they are not aluminum. I find that a quick wipe of Z-6 gets rid of that problem.

how bout a price on them? I donno if your allowed to post it here, but I dont think anyone would mind. I recently found out all my towels are about 20% polyester. oops. so I gotta go buy some towels, I would just go get regular old feildcrest towels, depending how much yours cost, they certainly sound alot nicer, but Im a washer on a budget.

Dr. Bonz...

hahaha... I had the same problem with my terry cloth towels today getting caught on the Z on the hatch emblem...

Wound up using Zaino style applicators for Z2 and Z5. Tried 100% terry cloth towels, 100% cotton diapers, and 100% cotton 'finishing cloths' to do the buffing. The terry cloth towels worked the best, though the cotton diapers seemed to work really well with the Z6...

Calling for rain tomorrow so I may try to get into the DDZC instead of driving...
