I recently had my front hood and a new oem front bumper painted and installed due to someone backing into my Z. I plan on spending a day or two getting about 10 layers on my car in the near future. I was wondering if i need to do a dawn wash on the hood and bumper that was painted or can i apply zaino directly to it?
Yes but you need to wait a while before doing it. While it's okay to apply Zaino or other waxes to a new car, it's not a good idea for a freshly painted one. The "new" car is actually a couple months old plus the paint was oven baked to facilitate curing.
Unless the shop oven baked the parts, you'll probably need to wait a few months to make sure the paint has cured. Check with the shop and see what they say.
You will want to wash with Dawn to make sure the surface is free of any grease, polish or waxes left by the body shop.
