Default waxing motions...

I've heard it's bad to do any kind of swirling motion when washing or waxing your car. If so, then how do you apply the wax and then remove it? I have the microfiber towels but I'm scared sh*tless of swirl marks.

Use straight line motion. Dry, apply and remove in the same directions all the time and you'll help minimize the appearance. On horizontal surfaces, the motion should be front to rear. On vertical surfaces, it should be up and down.
