Thumbs up Wheel Wax

After reading about Wheel Wax in both Sport Car Compact & Sport Z magazines ( thanks, Dave!! ), I decided to try it. My Wilwood BBK doesn't use the most dusty pads to begin with but I must admit that my first application of W/W revealed that I hadn't been getting them 100% clean ( despite my best efforts ). 2 days later & my iForged wheels are still relatively dust free!! The W/W also leaves them feeling silky smooth. I can't honestly say that W/W really polishes the surface but I DID just do a serious polish job on them right before I bought the W/W. If Wheel Wax helps seal in that shine I'll be extremely pleased! For now, the reduction in brake dust makes this an excellent product which lives up to it's hype.

so you just hose the wheel down and most of the dust will just come off? Seems like it would be A LOT easier to apply this wheel wax with the wheel off of the car. Is it a one time thing or once every week, month...?

Default Not Sure Yet

Reg - I'm not sure of the longevity of the product as I've just begun using it this past week. The directions seem to make a claim of a few weeks & after only 1 weel on my wheels, the wax is still there ( based on the slickness of the finish ). The dust doesn't accumulate like it did before W/W so a brief hosing of cool water seems to do the trick.
As far as applying it, that's a personal choice. For myself, it's easier to apply the W/W while the wheel's still on the car. Wheel Wax is a paste so it goes on easy & hazes up fairly quickly. Then U just wipe it off. Maybe if I was prepping for a show I'd take the time to get out the floor jack & stands; remove the wheels & do the work then remount the wheel.
I'll repost as I see the results over time.

Gene, have you tried Z-2 or z-5 on your wheels, most of my customers use them on their wheels to keep brake dust down.....

Thumbs up Once Before

Kevin - I used Z-2 on my chromed Zenettis on my GS400 but I haven't tried either product on my iForged wheels yet. Maybe we have weird dust down here in Louisiana but I truthfully haven't seen ANY product that helps keep dust off the car's surface. I LOVE Zaino & probably won't use anything else but I'm not buying into Sal's claims that it "helps keep dust buildup down". I just figure that's the price those of us with dark cars pay.
FWIW - Do ya have any of the new Z-8 detailing spray yet? I got Sal's email about it & would like to try it. Unfortunately, like most of the other Members here, I just got a supply of Z-6 in but if some those who HAVE tried the Z-8 verify its' validity, then I'll be looking for some for those special occasions & just use the Z-6 on a daily basis. Thanks!

What Sal is saying is that Zaino attracts less dust vs. other polishes and waxes that rely on silicone to make the car shine. If you use Z-6 every time as your last coat you will see a noticeable decrease in road dust sticking when you go out for a drive. Sal is not saying the Zaino will repel all dust.

Zaino z-2 or Z-5 can be applied to any hard, smooth surface, glass, wheels, bare metal, custom wheels, etc. Since Zaino is so slick it can help reduce dust from sticking and make clean up eaiser. You can also use Z-6 to detail your wheels after a drive to remove slight brake dust.

I have used and tested Z-8 for about the last year. It is great product, kinda like a quick version of Z-2, very fun to use and I have a large supply of it arriving at my place on Tues of this week...

I put Wheel Wax on last weekend. Took the wheels off the car (1 at a time), rinsed them down and applied the wax. It's kind of like butterscotch pudding.

Anyhow, the manufacturer says that the ionic charge that the wax imparts is the opposite of the charge that brake dust has, so it helps repel the brake dust?! Marketing? Maybe. But the wheels look great after having driven around a lot in this nice spring weather.

Here's a Wheel Wax search on Shopzilla if you're lookin around... Shopzilla

Ive been looking for a product like this to try out.
Ive got minor break dust that I cant seem to get rid of after a wash.
Does this help with that?
A newb question I know but i dont yet know if it is meant to be applied after the
wheel is clean or to clean the wheel and protect.

Thanks.

Wheel Wax is both a cleaner and protectant. The directions say to hose down the wheel, apply the product, allow to cure, then wipe off.
