Don't practice on your Z. Go to a junkyard and get a hood or trunk lid from a late model car - something that still has some decent paint on it. You'll probably spend less than $50 and you won't have to worry about ruining the finish.

Actually, I practiced on the wife and daughters cars. One's 7 years old and the other is 10 years. I wan't to worried about making them look worse. Actually, the wife's Avalon came out incredible.
