DF Towels and the cd-scratch test revisited
Okay, so Leo from dftowel.com contacted me and ended up sending me replacement towels in return for my current ones and the cd that I used for the test. As soon as I received my replacement towels, i performed the cd-scratch test again and they passed without problem. I used a brand new untouched blank cd (just like in the original test) and the towels left ZERO scratches.
So everyone just please disregard my warning about these towels from earlier... They are safe for your car!
As to why my previous towels scratched the cd... that I cannot say. I am, however, able to quite confidently rule out the possibility of poor care as I am extremely meticulous when it comes to cleaning and caring for anything that touches the paint of my car. Maybe it was just an anomaly, who knows.

You're in the same boat as me. I am very careful in my treatment of my DF towels so can't come up with an explanation as to why mine caused fine scratches during the CD test.
Hopefully you new batch of towels won't suffer the same problem in 6 months or next year. You might want to test them monthly and see if and when the problem returns.

I'm going through an extreme makeover on a dealer swirled SB ZR this weekend and tested my brand new (used and washed once) DF Towels with the CD test. They scratched the CD! I actually tested them after I noticed slight micro marring while polishing the car and using one of the towels to remove the polish. These towels have been washed once with regular liquid detergant and line dried w/ no fabric softener. I'm wondering if it has to do with the hardness of the persons water and the towels picking up "mineral" deposits? Either way, these aren't seeing the paint of my car again.
Ironically, I bought some cheap yellow micro-fiber towels from Home Depot the other day I was planning on using for the interior. I have used them once and washed them at the same time I did the DF Towels. They pass the CD scratch test! I'm using them currently to remove polish and had the wife pick up two more packages yesterday. I notice a much "softer" feel to these after they are washed as compared to the DF towels.
Just my observations - now reservations - that I thought I would share with everyone...

I was going to place an order for these towels now I am not so sure. I wonder if they changed the process or the quality of cotton since this just seems to be happening recently.
Hopefully Kevin will let us know what is going on with these towels.

Well I tried the CD test on my DF towels, Guess what, I got scratches galore.
I am e-mailing DF Towel. This is disturbing as I am very **** and I only wash with woolite and on delicate and wash them by themselves.

FOLKS,
I am doing the cleaning process all wrong, thats why I have scratches.
1. I am washing them with cold water not hot water and using Woolite instead of a liquid detergent. Apparently the Woolite and cold water is not getting the particles out.
And the biggest one of them all,
I am leaving them in my garage instead of in a container.
I apologize to DF Towel for this issue.

Well, I wish that was the case, but it just isn't. The cheapo yellow microfiber towels from home depot were washed and stored with the DF Towels and don't scratch the paint. I'm not sure what is causing it - maybe the DF Towels hold mineral deposits from the water better? Either way, these won't be seeing my paint again. I spent all weekend with a PC cleaning up "dealer abuse" on the car and don't plan on doing that again for a long time....

I have two black vehicles and I never get any scratching from my DF towels, if I did I would not use them. You also need to look at what wash mit you are using, if you are using a synthetic polyester mitt, they cause scratches like mad on darker colors or you can pick up some debris in your wash bucket and cause scratches also, if you bucket wash I recommend you purchase what is called a "grit guard" that is a mess plastic screen that fits in the lower botton of the bucket that prevents your wash mitt from picking up settling dirt particles.
I would ony advise customers to use an all cotton wash mitt or an all real wool mitt.

I use a foamgun and a DF towel wash mitt and am very careful surrounding rinsing my mitt often. (Even use a leaf blower for a majority of the drying - **** isn't the word for my SB ZR
) The washing technique isn't the problem anyway since marring was introduced after the SMR was done...
