Default Shipping car NY to CA, need advise

Hey guys, i have to ship 2 z's to california, we are shipping them "Exposed" carrier.

Who has experience with "Blue Painters TAPE" i see the car show guys use it to travel back and forth to car show to protect the bumpers and mirrors from sand and chips.

Do you think the tape will come off safely after 5-7 days traveling accross the country in the heat of the summer?

I need to protect the cars, inclosed carriers are double the price we used to pay because of the gas crisis.

HELP...

Blue painters tapeing the whole front of the car, are we taking a risk, or is this stuff really that good??

Do all you can to protect it no matter how silly it looks. Tape each part carefully if you can minus the wind shield so who ever needs to move it can still drive it. Can you put a car cover over it? Once you get near the west coast things will be nice and dry but I'm thinking there may be lots of bugs on the way.

Which part of Ca are you coming to?

Just spoke to 3M, they DO NOT recomend the blue painters tape for long exposure to UV rays, and heat. as well as a 5-7 day journey to Cali. could remove paint and damag e the car, they make a product called "Polymask" for the auto industry. 6 months of protection, UV l;ight proof, and used by manufactures everywhere.

I am going with that product.
Tell slay to be carefull. Traveling to a car show or one day of application is ok, 5-7 days traveling through the heat of the summer to cali more then likely will damage his car...

thanks for the info guys, i'll post some pics of the car wraped when it ships out next week.

No worries. I think he said he was shipping his car in an enclosed container since he didn't want his car exposed to the elements.
