Dealer Prep on Delivery
Should I let the dealer wash and wax the car for me when it is delivered or should I just take the car straight from the truck and do all the washing and waxing myself. I have heard of stories of dealers causing swirl marks on the car because of road dirt/dust from transport and not cleaning the car properly.
Yes, let them do only the mechanical prep and take the tape off, then you do many walk arounds inspecting for defects or transport damage. I prefer to have it in writing for them not to wash, wax, polish, or rub on the paint in any way.

i just had to have my super black chemically buffed out because of this. their "detail" dept screwed up the finish so bad that it looked like a used car in direct sunlight.
it looks super now without a single swirl. just had to give up alittle on the overall longevity of the finish.

Take it as fresh off the truck as you can get it. Preferably remove the exterior shipping plastic yourself at the dealer. Remove the interior plastic yourself also. The shipping plastic might leave small amounts of adhesive along their edges. Soap and water have a hard time with it. Isopropyl alcohol removes it easily and harmlessly. Enjoy the first bath.
