Default Is it necessary to use ClayBar every time you wash the car?

Normally, I wash my Z every 2 weeks, and it ususally it takes about 3 hours to finish the whole thing. I think I spend most of the time using the clay bar to remove those hard dust on the surface - takes about more than 1 hour. yeh, I feel really tired of it.

So, I'm just wondering if it's necessay to use ClayBar every time you wash the car to keep the surface "really clean"?

Nope. Once a year (or less) is plenty.

Not true!

You should clay when necessary! If the paint is not smooth after a wash and feels gritty, ie, tree sap ect, then you should clay.

I do mine about every 6-12 months, but then again, mine is always garaged and is vary rarely in the elements.

It all depends on how clean your surface is after the wash. Claybarring shouldn't take that long, normally takes me about 10-15 minutes sometimes less.

If you have to park it outside all the time, you should first make sure it's very clean, then get a car cover for it. If it's not really clean, the car cover will help the dirt on your car scratch the paint.

I stand corrected.. I actually forgot about those who park outside. Mine is ALWAYS garaged, even at the office so it only needs it about once a year.

Every time is still excessive. I'd think every 3 or 4 months should be fine.

Default Clay Bar

I clay bar my paint everytime I wax. I wax my car every 3-4 months. I will wash the entire car then dry it. I will then use detailer as a lubricant and clay bar a panel. I will then then dry the panel and then polish and wax and move onto the next panel.
