Ack! Bird **** on the Z...
I was out of town for a week on biz, and I returned to find 4 spots of **** on my Brickyard Z - so I clean them off, wash her up all shiny, and you can still see where the spots were - rough spots in the paint. Am I F'd? Can this be fixed? It's on the hood dammit.

Sad to hear that, I had the same experience. Mine was baked under the sun for an hour after cleaning it. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about it to my knowledge except wax it. Most cases only you will notice it, and usually that's all it takes to irritate an owner. Good luck.

I found on another web site to use distilled vinegar on a cloth and rub a little bit then clean with plain water on a cloth should work and repeat if nessary. FYI the vinegar will remove any wax on the area so you will need to re-apply a coat.

Once you get it cleaned off, if you feel a rough spot, that usually means that it's eaten into the clearcoat. If it's a very shallow spot, you might be able to polish it out with a fine compound. If not, it may require wet-sanding or worse.
The best instructions I've seen for fixing "bird bombs" is in David Bynon's eBook "Autopia Guide to Detailing". Sign up at http://Autopia.org and go to the page:

and download the eBook. Look in the Paint Clinic chapter for "Bird Bombs".

ya.
if it went through the clearcoat, vinegar won't do anything.
i've successfully got rid of those marks by using 3m fine cut polish and 3m swirl mark remover.
i pretty much took a little bit of clear coat off to get rid of the mark.
other abrisives will work fine too. just get something to get rid of the haze after the polish. (3m SMR in my case)
good luck.
