Default repairing scratches

I live in the new orleans area and need to have my whole car buffed and some scratches need paint. Any suggestions on how I should go about this?? Should I just get the whole car re-painted, or would you be able to tell the scratches were fixed?? Does anyone know a reputable body and paint shop around here?? Thanks

Without actually seeing the car, it's hard to tell you what needs to be done. If you're talking about very fine scratches, then it's possible that a good polishing will take them out. If they're too deep, then yes, painting will be required. If there are a lot of them, then rather than doing a bunch of touch-ups, it might be better to repaint the whole car.

There are a couple of shops here in BTR that I'd could probably recommend but I don't know any in N.O. anymore, especially post-Katrina.

Your best bet is to take it a couple of reputable shops and let them evaluate the paint and scratches and see what they say.

Ray Brandt, 1801 Veterans, just north of the airport, did a good job on my '96 TT in 2000. I don't know if they are still at that location or were impacted by Katrina though.

If it is down through the paint and through the clear coat...Repaint. If it is a scratch on the clear coat it canbe buffed out.

Not to steal a thread, but how much does it typically cost to buff a car?

It just gives it a better gloss, correct?
