Zaino Application -- Please Check My Steps ... ?
Okay, I finally went and bought some Zaino. I have a nice little scratch that I can't seem to buff out with anything in the world so I'm going to see if my Dealer can compound it out. Once I get all that done, I want to start Zaino Application ... so, a few questions:
A: If they have to repaint my quarter panel, how long must I wait before applying Zaino, washing the car, etc?
B: Once I can apply, are these the correct steps:
1. Wash with Dawn Dishwashing Detergent
2. Mix Z7 Wash (1 cap / gal) and slick up an area of the car (how large an area?)
3. Clay area
4. Repeat 2+3 until whole car is clayed.
5. Full wash using Z7
6. Mix ZFX w/ Z5
7. Apply Z5
8. <-- How long to wait before next step? -->
9. Mix ZFX with Z2
10. Apply Z2
11. <-- How long to wait again? -->
12. Apply third and final coat of Z2
I suspect this will take all day more than likely ...
Thanks all!

A) Ask the body shop. Only they know what was used, how it was dried, how long it takes to cure, etc.
B2) I do 1' square sections at a time.
B8 & B11) Drying/curing can be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour or longer. Depends on temperature and humidity. Give it at least an hour.
If you have a dark colored car (SB, DB, BY) then you might consider two coats of Z-5 and one Z-2 to start. It will help hide swirls better. If you have a light colored Z, then you can do the one Z-5 unless it is heavily swirled then do two.
Yes, to do it all right, it will take the better part of a day.
Remember that a little Zaino goes a long way. You are putting it on really really thin. For a newbie, consider yourself good if you only put 3/4 to 1 oz on per layer. You're shooting for 1/2 to 1/3 oz per layer. Putting too much on will be the biggest obstacle to getting it dryed fast.
Did you buy Z-6? If so, you can put it on between the layers of Z-5/Z-2. It makes the Zaino go on a little easier, especially on a virgin surface. It also aids in removing any streaks of left over Z-* from the previous application.
