Default Nu Finish

Has anyone used Nu Finish? Results? If not recommended, what do you suggest? Anything simpler than Zaino? I'm not going to show my car and I'm not a fanatic about keeping it perfect at all times; I use and enjoy it. I, therefore, am reluctant to join a cult such as Zaino users seem to be.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Ken

Dude, then you should absolutely use Zaino. Initially, it'll take a few hours (not all work, mostly wait time for the application to take) to put it on, but then it lasts for a lonnnggg time - several months at the least. All you really have to do is just wash your car periodically and the Zaino shine will still remain.

Nu Finish is one of those "grocery store" waxes (Turtle Wax, Rain Dance ...). They're cheap, you can buy them anywhere and are appear easy to use. They won't offer much protection, they won't last very long and they never seem to be as easy as their marketing suggests.

You don't have to be a fanatic to put on a quality product that will provide good protection, last a reasonable time and have a great shine.

Contrary to popular belief, Zaino is not that difficult. Sure, you read the instructions and it seems to have a dozen steps. The problem is that with any good wax/polish, you should be taking most of those steps anyway.

Washing with a strong detergent is important because it removes old waxes and grease from the surface. Claybar is important because it removes any contaminants embedded in the surface of the paint. No wax/polish job you do is going to be any better than the prep you do first. So if you use Zaino, NXT, CrystalGuard, Blackfire or any other wax/polish, you need some of the same steps to start with.

If you're not obsessive about the appearance, and don't plan on making a big deal about how the car looks later on, there are several good, easy use products, like NXT for example. You can probably get by with a good washing then apply the product and not have to do it again for a couple months or so.

No matter what you go with, I'd avoid the low-end products like Nu Finish or Turtle Wax. For a few dollars more, you can get a much better product that is just as easy to apply and you'll be happier with it in the long run.

zaino is the best for long lasting protection. i can put 2-3 layers on in a pretty short amount of time and it easily lasts at least 4 months. once you get the initial wash/clay/polish out of the way it's just as simple as any other polish. besides, the initial steps should be done for any other wax or polish too to get good results.

As has been stated above, definately do a claying. On your "Magnetic Black" you might want to try Autoglym "Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner" and "Ultra Deep Shine" from: www.properautocare.com Seven years of development and testing in Europe. Easy to apply and remove. Visually eliminates swirls. Plus, it lasts!

Regardless of what you ask about car care, members will chime in Zaino Zaino Zaino whether it meets your needs or not. I use Prestone one-step cleaner wax and spend the entire day going over the car one small area at a time. White is difficult to clean. I am more than pleased with the cleaning ability, shine and durability of Prestone.

I have been using Nu Finish for years on a succession of nice cars. It is a terrific product. Some years back, Consumer Reports did a full test of car polishes. Nu Finish out performed everything. Best shine, longest lasting. Do you feel better spending big bucks on trendy stuff? Be my guest. Want a great shine and excellent protection for your paint? Nu Finish. It is all I use.

Another product that made the top of the list was 3M™ 39006 - One Step Cleaner Wax Light Oxidation Remover. I use it when I can find it.

I've been using nothing but Zanio on my Super Black and it's insane. It glows like crazy but I have also just tried Maguiars NXT Tech Wax and zymol cleaner wax too.

I'm busy working the swirls and whirls that the dealer delivered the car with out. Why not return it to the dealer ... you think the guy that put the swirls in the car is smart enough to get them out?

So I've claybared and polished the back end using a porter cable random buffer, yellow pad, and 3M Swirl Remover and Zanio PC-X.

So on one half of the hatch and one quarter panel I put two layers of Z-5, a layer of Z-2, and Z-6 on top. On the other side I did one layer of Meguiar's NXT. There is a small difference between the two - the Zanio is more "silver" looking while the Meguiar's is a darker/richer color. I want to wait a couple hours and check my opinion again to see if anything has changed.

Next I'm going to put a layer of zymol carnauba wax on both to see if the carnauba deepens the glow like I've seen claimed. I'll do just the very center of the hatch with a patch so I'll have a NXT - NTX w/zymol - Zanio w/zymol - Zaino only patches. I'm a hell of a good photographer but I don't know if I can capture the subtle differences in the finishes ... I love a challenge.

How long the wax job last doesn't really matter to me as I'm willing to do the extra effort if it looks better. I clean the car after every time I drive it. It doesn't rain here and the car doesn't do rain anyways.
