Default Does anyone use Zymol?

I've understood that many members use Zaino, but I've heard many good things about Zymol. Is there anyone here able to shed some light between which one is better? Because I wanted to use the best, on my new car (which is White btw). Speaking of new car, I've heard things such as not to wash a new car for about 4-5 weeks is this true? And i've had my car for about a week (I got it on 3/17), and wish to wash it in about a week or so.
Thanks in advance.

Pete

Among the waxes you can by at your common auto part store, Zymbol is just fine, but remember it is made by Turtle Wax. Zymbol does have a high end line of wax, but you are talking a couple hundred bucks. If you want good results from off the shelf easy to find products I would go with:

1. 3M Imperial Hand/or Machine Glaze depending if you are using an orbital.
2. Follow up with Klasse sealant for that added shine and wet look.
3. Top off with Meguires High Tech Yellow Wax.

If you want to order some good products you an go with the easy way and get the Griots Garage three step polishes and wax kit or I have really enjoyed using P21S. Top of the line products would be Pinnacle, Menzerna and Zaino with the later being the best shine if you are starting with a perfect paint job and do not mind some additional steps and effort.

PS You can wash your car when it's new, I would never let four weeks of dirt build up, that would just be begging for swirl marks. New paint jobs need to cure to some people, for a month or so before being waxed.

You mentioned the best and unfortunately there is no best. If you study the forum you will find a dozen recommendations for cleaners, polish, wax and glaze. Members have a wide range of preferences based on how much time they would like to spend on detailing (one step cleaner-wax) and subjective qualities such as shine.

Factory paint is cured in ovens so it is not necessary to wait before washing or waxing. Even if it wasn't "factory cured", since it takes several weeks between the time the car is built, shipped across the ocean then trucked to your dealer, it's had more than enough time to cure.

Zymoil works great. The more often you use it, the shinier it gets. So far, I've recently placed a second coat on and I can tell the texture is smoother than the original application. The shine has more luster also. Remember, to get the full shine effect you must mist the car down with a spray bottle after you've already applied a fresh coat of wax. Then buff the water off with a clean rag. It is the same principle as spit shining your dress shoes. The more polish you add, while buffing the surface with water or spit, the shinier the top coat is.

I think Blueboxer gave some great tips and I have to agree with most of them,
I have used the better Zymol and it is very hard to work with. I love the Zaino stuff but again its a process. Menzerna and Blackfire are what I'm playing with now, Pinnacle is wax, very good wax, but wax none the less.
Its not in the same leage as the water based german polymer stuff!
Wolfgand is another company that is worth looking into, I have all of the above and more, there is no best and they all do different things well.
Good Luck
Jerry

yeah as blueboxer said, there's a high end version of zymol.

I've used the stuff you can find at costco / auto stores and it was great ... but too hard. Way too much effort to apply and buff off.

For zymol applications, I switched to NXT - much more easier to work with.

NXT is great, but I switch to Eagle 1 nano which really seems to work wonders with swirl marks. of course I have a Silver Stone car so I could polish with pretty much anything and it look good and the swirls are almost impossible to see on that color anyways. Zymol is really good IMO I used to use it on my Black Xterra and it looked awesome.

I've tried many over the years and NXT is the (current) product of choice. Easy on ... easy off and a great shine.

I used to use Zymol exclusively. Then switched to Zaino. Zymol is MUCH more difficult to get off, but does look good once it's on.

I used zymol and loved it. Last year I tried the nxt since it is so highly recommended. I am going to try nxt again in a few weeks.

I thought zymol was easier to apply and get off. The nxt seemed to be more of a chore. The zymol seemed to shine better also. I know my experience don't mirror what has been posted on here.

Since my waxing experience was so different from others. I am going to get some more zymol. I will then wax my car with nxt and my wifes car with zymol. Then make a comparision. Btw both cars are black.

Keep us posted. I'm interested to see the comparison.

The easiest products to remove would be P21S wax, no hazing and is like butter. Griots Garage line is also awesome!!! The biggest pain to remove would be 3M Imperial Hand Glaze, I use to use a quick detailing spray and terry cloth to remove it. A dry cloth was too big of a pain. Another great product that is easy to remove and does a good job is Blitz Grand Wax. It doesn't stain your black rubber either.
