Default HELP! Urgent P21S Question -or- I just bought a $60 candle???

What is the proper consistency of the p21S carnuba wax??? The top of the wax looked really dried out when I opened it up. Then it popped out like a candle or something.

I just ordered the whole kit from the Proper Auto Care guys...I've always been very satisfied with purchases from them in the past.

http://store.yahoo.com/classic-motoring/p221detkit.html

I never ordered this product before, is it supposed to be solid???

I think I may have gotten a kit that sat on the shelf too long.

Thanks,

Mason

Wax shouldnt go bad.. Try warming it up? I know that wax is hard to put on to begin with. Try to put it in warm water w/ the cap closed. If it dont warm up...b!tch to them and they might give u another?

Did you try calling P21S to find out the answer?

Ehh, I'm not going to mess with it, either EVERY canister ships like this, or it doesn't. Plus it looked a little crusty on the top, like it had dried out. I paid $60 for this "kit", I expect it to be freaking perfect.

No, I left a message with the ProperAutoCare folks. Good call though, I went to www.P21S.com and they have an email. I sent them the picture posted above with an explanation...

We shall see!

A picture really is worth a thousand words! I've never used P21S before, but that definitely doesn't look like a car wax to me. Send that pic to PAC as well. I'm sure they will send you a replacement.

Just talked to Jan at ProperAutoCare.com. She says it totally normal and the product is not old. Chalk it up to a high carnuba content in the wax I guess.

We'll see what the people at P21S.com have to say, I feel pretty confident Jan's got it right though. I'll report what I think of how it looks on my cars paint...

I'm used to the synthetic stuff, I'm a total newb when it comes to carnuba.

Too bad, wife was all excited because she thought I bought her a candle...

Yes, that is how a good a carnauba wax should look like. My container of pinnacle souveran is the same way, i never tried to pop it out though. When it comes to carnauba solid is better than liquid. Liquid is easier to apply but contain thinners to keep it in a liquid state.

I am curious why you want to use it on silver, generally carnauba really brings out dark or solid colours like black, red, green... have fun with it though, it should apply like butter with a foam pad. Results look better the day after.

I'm actually doing a comparison of products on my wifes car, which is Black! I'm hoping this product will do a good job. I'v been pretty thrilled with Zaino on my Silverstone, so I don't think I'll use P21S on it...

Thanks for the advice.

It's normal. It's actually a good feature for those who like to apply it with a porter cable orbital. You take it out of the container, rub it over the pad and away you go.

The top layer can get crusty, but as soon as you start putting it on your applicator pad it goes on like butter and is really easy to buff off. I've used P21S products for the past two years and love them. I prefer it over Zaino for ease of use and it's not a huge difference in shine or protection. However, remember carnuba waxes are only good for a month or two as opposed to the liquid and synthetic waxes that last up to three months. Just clay bar and use their paint cleansing polish (or 3M swirl remover first if you have swirl marks) and follow up with a couple coats of the wax. Use a concours grey buffing pad with a random orbital to finish up the buffing and you will be very happy.

i did some research on the S100 vs P21S ...

the most intelligent comparison I got was it's basically a marketing strategy and the reason why the appearance of the S100 paste is different is because it has an additive for flexing ... motorcycle painted body parts are obviously subjected to alot of flexing. Some argue that the flex additive compromises the longevity of the wax ... but at 1/2 the price, fck it.

I called up a couple local harley dealers, it's 15.99. Good stuff! I went to go pick one up today ... closed just as I arrived, will pick it up tomorrow.

That's cheap compared to Zymol estate waxes. This Zymol wax costs $968 for 8oz!! .-

These are the instructions they give for applying carnuba wax.-

1/. Put a very small amount of the glaze to the palm of your hand. Use the warmth of your hands to melt the Carnauba. With your hand, gently apply the glaze in a light, even pattern over no more than three or four square feet of painted surface.
2/. Let Atlantique stand for up to five minutes.
3/. Using moderate to heavy pressure, wipe very slowly with a flat towel (folded once) to a brilliant luster before wax is totally dry.
4/. Wait three to four hours, then lightly buff the paint again to
perfect the shine.

There is nothing wrong with your wax. It is an idication of it's carnuba content. Pure Carnauba in its natural state is harder than concrete.
