Default How to keep rotors from looking rusty?

What are some of your detailing secrets to keep them shiny and looking like new? They seem to build the rust stains pretty fast after being doused with water.

Are you out of your mind????? Pour some oil on yours, go through a "chicane" (sp) at 90 miles an hours, and come back here and tell me how everything went.

Both, but I was talking about the oil burning off.

It was just a suggestion Cessna :-D Besides, if we didn't trick the dumb ones, they'd all pass on their genes.

derust with muriatic acid, dry quickly with compressed air, or rinse with www.eastwoodco.com s metal wash and spray paint with 1200 degree duplicolor black paint. Paint the whole thing. one or 2 brake applications will take the paint of the swept area and leave it everywhere else and prevent future rust.

There is nothing that can be done on the contact areas. It's bare steel. To be honest the higher quality steel the rotors are made from the faster they will flash rust.

Pretty much the only way to deal with it would be to have some sort of alloy rotor, such as chromoly, and that would still only resist.

That or get full on chromed rotors and never ever used the brakes.
