Ok, curiosity got the best of me and a bought a bottle, I figured worse case scenario I can always use the microfiber cloth it came with to clean my interior. Now, I have never liked turtle wax products, or for that fact would even consider using them in the past. However, due to living in a desert, the ability to apply the product on warm surfaces got the best of me. I am going to do a wash and quick wax with it on Friday and will post results.

 

Turtle Wax Ice synthetic wax right? It says it's easy putting it on and rubbing it off, plus the stuff is clear so it caught my eye. Too bad it's gonna rain here in LA again this week or else i would try it this week too.

 

Zaino can be applied in direct sunlight, never mind a warm surface.

I will be taking some before and after shots, no worries on that one. However, it is a fairly new car (two months) and I had previously detailed it with P21S paint cleanser polish, Meguires Glaze and P21S wax. I did not claybar it, but will be using a claybar to really smooth out the paint and take off the previous product to get an accurate representation of the product. If it is as easy to use as stated, it might be a fun inbetween details wax.

 

Alright, overall impressions:

Pros-
Very easy to use.
Took about twenty minutes to apply and buff off. (followed it up with an orbital buffer with grey buffing pad and meguires quick detailer).
70% of the shine of my normal program described above.
Paint feels super smooth, very similiar to other good waxes, but doesn't have that true slick feeling to it.

Cons-
The only bad part is that it is clear and hard to tell where you have applied it and when it is completely buffed out.
Not a very good smell to it (hey, we all know we like good smelling car products).


Overall-
Very happy with the product. It was a warm CA day and I would of never even considered waxing with a typical product. This is the selling point to me, when I feel the need for a little added protection, but time and weather does not permit my normal routine, this may be a good fill in.

I did take pics, but I was hoping someone could host them for me? Post up or PM your email and I will forward four pictures or so. Oh, and I tried this on my sisters 4 month old G6. The paint was in good condition before, so I cannot attest to how well it feels in swirl marks for a car that has not been properly maintained, but as you will see from the pictures, it looks outstanding for such a simple product.

hmm read about it just now... supposedly no residue, u can put it on in direct sunlight or hot surface.... and you can layer it



Im not sure if I should get NXT or this one next since my 3m cleaner wax ran out =(

 

Definitely didn't know you could layer this stuff....and as much as I wax the Z...that seems like a huge plus.

Good write up Sonny! Kabs, that ad is funny, isn't it about 30 bucks for both in most auto stores? I like the idea that it doesn't make black trim white and i hate seeing old wax in the creases or gaps, so this should be good.

its rather gonna be the NXT liquid wax or this Ice stuff (if autozone has it by now)


I may not buy the Ice if it really isnt thick... If its like gel then yea ill try it out... if it moves like water i say eff it. =P

 

Update:

Yea the stuff costs 17 bucks (same as NXT) but also comes with a microfiber towel. Now when i picked up this stuff it took me a whole 5 sec to put it back down and pickup NXT liquid wax. Why you ask? Well the damn is water. Its not thick at all. I do not understand how this works since it doesnt dry, you just rub it onto your car and you are done, no buffing.



Change of topic. Target has an amazing package for sale today. Its Gold Class Shampoo with a microfiber towel and a really nice washing mit for like 7 bucks. Good stuff.

 

i guess i'm still trying the ice, i'm a sucker for ease of use.

true too... if i had an extra 17 bucks layin around i would of bought it and tried it out too... if it was crap i woulda used it on the accord =P

Hey Kabs,

I will forward you some pics later this afternoon. I just washed my truck and applied ICE as well. I am WAY more impressed with the second use. The first time I used way too much and this time I used the amount I had used on two quarter panels for the entire truck, which is way larger and the results were even better. The truck had a lot of swirls and heavy scratches. THe ICE filled in the larger scratches, but did leave some residual swirls. Considering that this was used without a true polish/swirl remover, I am very impressed. The blue of the truck has a nice gloss and the reflections are awesome.

My only gripe is the applicator it comes with. I would recommend picking up a couple yellow meguires applicator foam pads while you are at it. I am sold on using this as a bi-weekly or once a month wax for added protection and then using my P21S and 3M products for a bi-monthly detail job.

Overall, guys you just cannot be disappointed for sixteen bucks. I am a real car care snob and bought this just to use on my work car and familys vehicles, but will begin using this on my Z as well.

 

I would really like to see if it layers like zaino, if it does that i'm sold...
